How can I counter burst damage?

Hello fellow summoners! My team and I (Velkoz mid) just got wrecked by a Leblanc who was able to burst us down 100 - 0 before we could even react. While I'm sure our lack of teamwork and vision, and Blitz using his Ult to clear camps instead of silencing champs, played into this I was wondering what I could do myself to counter this a bit. I tried building into Gaurdian Angel, but the game was lost before I could build it. Any suggested items or playstyles? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Buy magic resist and health. If you're an AP mage, buy a Rylais possibly, or a Banshee's Viel. and GA would also be good. Also, ensure that you keep good vision on the bursty AP mage, and try to make her use the burst on someone else if need be.

More hp counters burst, avoiding skill shots helps also.

Banshee's veil will stop LB from bursting you 100% unless you are incredibly far behind. In general if you want to survive her burst as a mid laner, you'd want to go tanky AP (think Rod of Ages, Rylai, Abyssal Scepter). Otherwise you have to play something that will kill her first or interrupt her burst.

Banshee's is better than GA.

Also try some practice with your skill shots. Vel'Koz has the range to seige almost completely outside of LB' range. With him you want to seige, with LB she wants to trade or out right all in.
