Who will win: Full Optimal Build Tanks Vs Full Optimal Build ADC

Recently my friend said he want to try a custom to test something: Leona (<-friend) full build vs Draven (me) full build. Before the start of the game, I told him that a full tank will win of course due to higher HP and armor. We played and farm until we each reached 6 full items before 1 v 1.

My build on Draven: the standard Draven: BT, IE, LW etc VS His build on Leona: Frozen heart, Thornmail, Cinderhulk, Randuin, Ice gaunlet etc

I had about 400 AD, and Leona had about 600 armor.

He asked me why do you think Leona won, ADC are suppose to be tank killers? One reason I stated: 4k hp vs 1.9k HP. Other: I said that you are building full armor to counter AD already. He refuted by saying well you could have build full items optimal against my Leona.

-He also stated that a full Optimal build Vayne would probably win due to TRUE damage against his Leona. _ -Then he compare full Zed vs full Leona, and said Zed will win 1 v 1 because Zed is a tank killer. _

**What do you guys think? Can an optimal build ADC win against an optimal build tanks especially when the tank has a lot of CC? Condition: 1 v 1 (no team to help), the best possible build. Given that both players has the same skills. **

Of course, you really can't compare these two roles as each serve a different function in league.

Depends on a variety of factors, such as if you're capable of kiting and if the tank can land the correct engage.

Draven and Leona? If Leona miss her E, you'll kite her to death.

Also, btw, most adc's build at least one defensive item. Against a full tank Leona, I would have built banshee's veil. Why? Because whatever she initiates with will pop the spellshield, so she'll either rely on her E for her full combo and it'll fizzle out, or be forced to engage with her ultimate (which gives you time to dodge it, potentially keeping your spellshield).

But in general, late-game ADC's will give out enough damage output to be the best tank shredders, but they should not be left to fend for themselves. ADC is intended to have the highest damage output late-game, but they have to survive in order to do so. My personal creed is that you out-damage any one in four seconds, but you have to survive those four seconds first. Notice that my example above supports this, as if you can dodge Leona's full combo you will eventually out-damage and destroy her.

Also, if she has 4k health, make sure to build a bork. ADC players do have multiple build paths. Honestly, against Leona... IE, PD, LW, boots, BORK, banshee's or spirit visage (boost your lifesteal alongside health and MR).

If you are Vayne or maybe Caitlyn you will win. Yesterday I was playing against full tank Nasus and a tanky Warwick. They were fed but I still melted through them after everyone was full build.

You built to counter him, but he didn't build to counter you. Of course you won. A more realistic "optimal" Leona build would have less armour and more magic resistance because you're not against a full AD team.

A better build against a full-armour Leona would be to swap boots for a real Magic Resist item and pick up a Black Cleaver. That would give him more health and let him cut your armour to about 270 instead of 390. I'd have to run the math, but it might even be worth swapping out PD for BotRK to get more lifesteal and the % health damage. The extra AD also helps Draven due to his axes.

The other reason a tank can win a 1v1 with an ADC when both are at full build is that tanks are often designed to lock down opponents. Full Armour Leona is walking in there with an attack speed slow and a couple seconds of stun. If she lands her dash Draven can't even try to kite her before getting locked down.

A properly-built ADC will whittle down a tank eventually, but they often need someone to peel for them. Needless to say that won't happen in a 1v1. Not every ADC is a great duelist. That's where melee carries like Yi or Trynamere tend to shine. Just because they're usually top or jungle doesn't mean they aren't attack damage carries.

Depends on the adc. As draven i would say leona because her chase is better than your disengage and you lack mobility on draven. Vayne Cait Ashe Corki Kalista Tristana on the other hand would beat leona imo. Basically against a tank as an adc if you are an adc who has good kiting / escapes / self peel / good disengage you should be fine vs Leona or most tanks.
