Which runes to buy?

Hello, I'm level 19 but getting 20 soon (just 3EXP missing). I mainly jungle so I want to fill my first rune page (or first two pages) now. I have around 11k IP on my account.

I jungled a lot with Warwick in the last weeks because of his sustain. But when Vi was in the weekly champion rotation I bought here because she really made a lot of fun. In the games I had problems with the first clears, but now with runes I hope to make better use of her and want to be here my most used champ.

I now want rune-pages for both of these champions (priority on Vi)and will wait until 21.01. because of the special runes-offer by riot then.

But I don't know how to decide which ones I should buy. attack damage, attack speed, armor penetration? How to decide which one is better? Is there some kind of calculator which tells which rune has which influence in DPS or so?

They only thing I am certain now is that I buy 9 yellow flat-armor runes but I don't know which else I should buy.

Hope you can help me.

Cheers

Here is what I have when I use Warwick or Vi (it works for plenty of other champs as well): Greater Mark of Attack Damage x9 = +8.55 flat Attack damage Greater Seal of Armor x9 = +9 flat armor Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist x9 = +1.44 MR per level (+27 at level 18) Greater Quintessence of Attack Speed x3 = +13.5% Attack speed

Yellow and blue are most efficient as defensive runes. Reds are most efficient with an offensive stat and quints are great for a lot of reasons. Blues can also grab cooldown reduction or AP as well though.

For yellow (seals) flat armor is a great default for all positions, especially jungle. It helps you sustain much better in the jungle. Minions and towers do physical damage as well, and there are usually more AD champs than AP champs every game.

For blues magic resist is the most gold efficient if you're in a game that you'll be taking magic damage. Both flat and scaling are good choices. For jungling I would go scaling because you're usually level 3 by the time you'll gank. Most scaling runes (not all) break even with their flat version at level 6.

For AD jungles attack damage reds and attack speed quints are a safe powerful general combination. They also serve as the best ADC setup generally too. The attack speed stat is really great for helping jungle clear compared to other stats dps wise, but is usually not as strong as AD or penetration versus champions. I pretty much recommend having either attack speed quints or reds if jungling most champions.

For whatever reason AD quints have a weaker ratio of stats compared to its red version than other offensive stats.

To summerize, these are the strongest starter runes you should look out for: flat AD reds Attack speed quints Magic Pen reds (for AP champions) flat AP quints (for ap) flat armor yellows magic resist blues (flat or scaling)

Hey mang, check out this comment, the rune/mastery pages I have up that say siksiksik are what I use for Vi.

I forget, if you're lvl 20, do you have access to Tier 3 runes? If not I would wait until you do, or maybe just get some basic Tier 1 runes since they're going to be really cheap next patch I think. RiotPhreak made some handy videos on runes over here:

My personal take is that for WW you want something like flat AD reds, AS quints, flat armor yellows, and flat/scaling MR blues. For Vi probably flat AD reds, flat AD quints, flat armor yellows, and either flat MR blues or flat CDR blues (or a mix of the two; I think 6 flat CDR blues give you 5% CDR), depending if you're facing a lot of magic damage or not. Vi could also use that WW page perfectly fine I think.

Flat Armor Seals, Scaling MR Glyphs are standard for many champs.

Buy only primary ones: http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/Runes The suggested ones by Laughing Fish are works fine. Strictly AD Marks, AS Quints, not the opposite. I suggest you to save up for for a 2 for 1 rune page sale. Those are worthy investments. Whatever amount you play, the sale will happen only a few times in a year.

Riot Phreak did a really good run down on runes for Season 5 that got posted to Reddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/2s5snf/cheat_sheet_for_rune_pages_for_the_2015_season_as/

I don't know if he put it on the League boards anywhere, but if you have questions he went pretty in depth.

How do you play? Are you aggressive, docile? Which more than the other if both? Do you gank a lot or don't? Ask yourself these questions than buy runes based on your play style. Only you know what's best for yourself.

wait until the rune sale if possible. you'll save quite a bit of ip

You can actually afford to run an entire page of attack speed runes on Warwick to have a really fast early clear. With either Trailblazer's or Poacher's upgrade you can counter jungle really effectively throughout the early game. You can even 1v1 kill most junglers if they find you taking their camps because your passive is that great. The only problem is that in mid-game because his ult cd and dmg has been nerfed so much it is really dangerous to keep doing it. Warwick's power spike was pushed back by about 8 levels =[

for your first full rune page you may want to make it something general.

for a first page i would go something like this 9x red hybrid pen (will help with both phy champs and ap champs) 9x yellow flat armor (good on everyone) 9x blue flat/scaling mr (again one that is good on almost everyone) 3x movement speed quints (these are under rated runes that will give you a nice edge in any role)

Movespeeds are always a fair alternative for Quints, remember.
