ADC Tips from a support point of view.
The tittle says it all. I'd like to have few tips for ADC from a support point of view.
The tittle says it all. I'd like to have few tips for ADC from a support point of view.
Stop standing perfectly still to CS and taking free poke lol If you want your jungler to gank you need to resort to last hitting ONLY so their wave pushes. Don't force the lane when you have a poke support, we can only poke when they are not near a tower :3
A few things I can think of:
**Support specific stuff ** -If I'm using any items Relic shield related, let me last hit the cannon minions if I have some floating blue balls around me. If I don't have the blue balls, click on me and see what my cool down is before I get a charge. If its at 75% charged, please stop going ham on the minions (if the situation allows), cos you when do that and kill those mêlée minions, our minions will switch to the cannon minion and kill it so dam fast that my relic proc won't recharge in time. Let my relic charge come back up, let me kill that cannon minion, then you can go ham again.
**general game knowledge specific **
learn how to last hit under tower, there are lots of videos in YouTube teaching you that. I hate it when I set up the minions perfectly for you to last hit and you don't take advantage of it.
know your match up, if you are someone with very low waveclear and short range (ahem, vayne), don't just stand there and wait for our minions to slowly wither their minions down and then you go in and last hit. They get to build a giant minion wave that way and if I harass with my AAs, those minions will agro me and they hurt like hell.
you don't have to commit to a kill every time I go into and harass. contribute to the harass as well. Its ok for you to take a few shots from the minions. You can regen it back up with hp/5 and life steal, but don't put yourself into a position where you will get hooked into a tower or sitting in the middle of a swarm of enemy minions.
** - USE YOUR BLOODY TRINKET, CONTRIBUTE TO VISION**
Learn map awareness. Just because its dark doesn't mean you won't know where the enemies are walking to.
trade if I've shielded you. Don't go that ham if they can heal and we can't. Instead, harass and burn their mana, then you Can go ham.
know what your support does. Too many times I've had people scream at me for picking support kennen (hint: excellent harass with a ranged stun potential) or screaming at me to not use vorpal blades (shen's Q)on minions cos it kills the minions faster and thinking it takes the farm (Hint: if you AA the enemy with vorpal blade on, it heals you)
don't just stand there and take harass / poke and then run like a little girl. Trade when possible, if not, try to control the wave (freeze / push)
play and build according to the game. Just because you are ADC does not mean you don't build MR, esp if they have a rumble top, ww in the jungle, and nami in support (hint: they'll get to you if you suck at positioning)
Attitude speicifc
I don't just support you, I support the team. Granted I'm mostly with you during laning phase, but don't cry that I'm not present if I've roamed to get pressure in mid / jungle while you've just pushed that wave all the way into their turrets, but then decide to overstay and then get CCed and die.
Don't complain about KS. We'll try to feed you as much as we can but sometimes we'll take that kill. be happy with that assist you got. We supports can use that cash to rush a Zeke's herald or sight stone.
don't bitch at me for not being with you if you go off split pushing alone (and die) with no vision. Yes, I maybe able to help with vision, but if theres an objective dance, I'll probably be there instead of by your side
Get in the habit of glancing at the mini map after you every second or third minion kill to check vision for possible incoming ganks. Sometimes your support is focusing on something else or just not with you to notice an enemy coming down river, so you need to get in the habit of watching out for yourself. This will also benefit you in other lanes.
Be mindful of your supports positioning. If they are sitting up near the minions they are likely going to try to get some harass or engage on your enemy and you need to be ready to jump in to help if need be. If they are sitting back away from minions they likely don't have cooldowns/mana/confidence in being aggressive and wont be able to properly bail you out of a bad situation if you find yourself in one so you should back off.
Killing Krugs/Gromp (whichever is near bot lane) is always a better option than sitting just outside an enemies tower waiting for the wave the push into lane again.
Never put yourself in a compromising situation just to get farm.
WARD!
If your support took relic shield, let them use the charges on the cannon minion. Both of you get the gold and some heals.
If your support roams (warding, helping another, has to back) play super safe.
Please use your trinket ward when you can. In the beginning of the laning phase it's usually all we have too. Upgrade it as soon as you can. Supports usually do most of the warding, but with the 3 stealth and 1 vision limit there's no way the map is warded enough to be safe. Wards are super important especially if you, as an ADC, are going to be split pushing. I can't tell you haw many times I've seen an ADC try to split push without wards only to get caught half way down the lane because they couldn't see the enemy coming.
If you don't know what you're support does or is going to build. ASK!!
"yes I'm roaming because you cant let my shrines sit pretty for 10 seconds. Need mana"
Bad support, never around I quit (at 5 min while being up tons of cs)"
try to play all mid and jungle champs in normal games . learn where they best gank and when they gank bot / for example noc and vi ganks bot at 6 when they have ulti / ask your top laner if the top enemy have tp in CD or not . so you know if you are getting ganked or not by enemy top laner ./ play more aggrsive because in solo q if you get snowballed you can carry much easier . i like agro adcs they carry the game more . but play careful in mid/late game and watch out from enemy killers . and please attack the enemy if they focus the support try to kill at least one for one if they killed your support dont just run but also be careful they dont swap on you
If it's early game and your support doesn't have sightstone yet, and your support's ward wore off in river, make sure you have river warded before you push.
If we go in and get the enemy ADC low, and they flash to get away, DO NOT flash after them unless you're 100% sure to get the kill. So many times the enemy ADC has kited away only to have my ADC get turned on, and the enemy support will just CC me as I try to go in to help. If you got the enemy ADC's flash, and they are low and have to leave lane, that's a win! Just farm, get a cs advantage, and back. Don't turn it into a lost trade by being greedy.
Push towers when you can. Early level, it's not really worth it to stay and try to push because they'll be back before you can do significant dmg. Just push the wave and back. Later, driving them out of lane might easily win you a tower, but know when it's worth it to push and when it's a waste of time.
CS is important. Make sure you're cleaning up bot lane regularly and not losing free farm.
If your tower dies early, don't rage at your support for helping mid while you farm bot lane alone. If the support has the jungle next to you warded, them sitting idle in bot lane while you farm is a waste. If your tower is down, enemy bot lane will be pushing other lanes, and the support is not wrong for helping back up those lanes. Supports are there to help you lane and to peel for you in team fight, but there are times when it is appropriate for them to leave you alone.
Be at objectives! Dragons, barons, etc. are much more easily secured with you there. Yeah, a wave of CS is important, but it's not worth risking losing dragon over. Also, don't back immediately after team fights unless you absolutely have to. See if you can help your team push a tower or objective first.
Kite. If you are focused during team fights, don't just stand there. Stay max range. If you are kiting across the map and getting no peels, then your team is not paying attention, but it's better than you just standing there and taking hits and dying. You can always turn around if they stop chasing you, and a lot of time they'll get themselves out of position doing it.
If I (the support) get hit by the enemy, or we are getting ganked, please don't just run away. Poke or kite them so we can return damage and I have a chance to get away, too.
Watch my mana and health. If I'm low on either, don't do anything overly aggressive and expect me to back you up.
If we pushed the wave and I'm going back to base, take the hint and come with me. If you stay in lane alone to try to farm another wave, you will probably die.
If I trinket ward one area (river or lane), put your trinket in the opposite location to maintain vision.
