About Gold V... Why it is "worse" than Silver

So I just found recently that you can't be dropped tiers, but rather, only divisions. The only way to be dropped a tier is to be inactive. Now I don't know about you guys, but placement matches for me were horrible. 2 wins, 8 losses... went from Gold 4 to Bronze 4 (yes. >.<) . I imagine that, there are many players that ended up in Gold that weren't "gold worthy".

Due to the inability to drop tiers, the players at in the V divisions pool together. So it makes sense that when you go from Silver I, to Gold V, your teammates get much worse.

Suggestions? My only thought here is go pub-mode and pretty much just try to get fed. At higher levels of play its better to be safe... but in Gold V, my thoughts are, just go ham (if you're good). Profit. Any thoughts?

That was a Season 2 or 3 thing, wasn't it? People have been able to drop between divisions for a while now.

Their MMR drops anyway, meaning a Gold 5 will play with Silver 4 if his MMR is really low.

You CAN drop "tiers" (leagues) if your MMR is one full league below. Meaning if you are Gold 5 and playing with Silvers 4, begin to panic because you will likely lose your gold status.

Key factor, the league system is JUST AN INTERFACE. There is still a number behind all this crap and this number varies a little bit each time you win/lose.

So as with what I said, your teammates won't get worse because you get closer to a league changement.

Uh I think you got it backwards? You can drop through tiers if your MMR drops enough, but you won't drop tiers for being inactive (only up to gold I think, plat/diamond drops for inactivity)... if you have a source for otherwise, please post it

Going from 1 to the next tier division 5 is always awkward. Take a look at this site and check after every game to see your ~MMR and the MMR of your opponents.

Uhh you can drop from Division 5 to a tier below you need to lose a lot of MMR and be at 0 LP but it is definetly possible and it happened to my friend so I know for a fact it is possible. Also, there is no decay from bronze-gold so inactivity doesn't apply.

I was Gold 4 during pre-season this season after placements I was placed Silver 3, I am now Plat 5 in less than 200 games. It isn't hard to rank if you aren't where you belong.
