So what ever happened to the item 3085 /item 3153 into item 3072 Kalista build? Now everyone seems to be buildingitem 3072 into item 3046 why is this new build better than the old Kalista build?

Building item 3085 give you tons of AS, and multi target AAs, but that's all. it's pretty good for clearing waves and very extended trades and early extended teamfights, but it lacks of burst damage wich can hurt you pretty bad since you don't always have the time or the opportunity to stack enough rend stacks to do serious damage, so you will loose short trades versus a corki, graves, lucian, or anything else that is good at short trades. The item 3085 into item 3072 falls late game because you will lack of crits to take down tanks ( and your gonna focus tanks late game, no choice ), resulting in a bad teamfight presence.

But the new build wich consist on rushing a item 3072 into item 3046 gives you a lot more burst and its more viable in short trades in botlane 2v2 and adds a lot of burst damage to your Rend since it has a good AD ratio. also building PD gives you the AS and crit chance u need to be more bursty and take down tanks more easly especially late game when you build item 3031 later on.

So build 1 offers a more mobile kalista very strong at extended early teamfights and skirmishes, but lacks of burst damage you need in a teamfight to take down tanks quickly. Build 2 offers a more bursty kalista and lot more sustained damage early and late, but sacrifices some mobility early on because you won't have a lot of attack speed before starting to build your item 3046 .

I tried both and in my elo ( plat 2 ) the second build is a lot better.

Hope i helped you, have a nice day.

im pretty sure it has something to do with her nerf. since she doesn't jump as far attack speed seemed less useful. so now hitting harder is more valued over the mobility. not 100 % sure that is right but that could be a good reason

Because unlike Ruunan's Hurricane's exclusive 70% attack speed with multi proc AA's, PD gives passive movement speed, %crit, and the ability to move through units.
