Hey, im atm Plat elo, im pretty good with long range adcs like caitlyn, and with vayne i used to main her but havent tried for long time, but how to carry with short ranged champs if ur not vayne? like i am graves but i cant reach anyone cause our tanks die while attacking enemy carries, but enemy kennen come in the path with ult and zhonya so i cant hit anyone and meanwhile my team dies.. team reports me for not doing anything but simply i couldnt cause kennen zone me.. if i was caitlyn i could outrange kennen ult and stuff? So how to carry as short ranged adc if ur team is losing? notice: dont talk about vayne cause she can carry 1v5 cause stealth

Learn to kite. Kiting is your most effective mechanic as any adc. If u cant reach the enemy, use your E to gap close. If you're playing graves, throw your ult and Q out in teamfights to get immediate AoE on the enemy team. Stop saving your ult to get kills and instead, use it to help your team win the fight.

Well im gold and i shouldnt be the 1 to talk but with Graves its kinda you havto win lane by atleast 30 cs. I means srsly he has such a huge power spike at lvl 2 and 3 + he is the most tanky adc. Honestly i wouldnt use him in a team without a hard assasin like Akali/Zed, remember you are short ranged you most probably wont reach the back line from all the zone+cc, you ighter be bold and flank the enemy so u get a position advantage or you havto be the tank shreader (wich means there just hasto be a hard mid/top carry that will have the dmg to deal with the backline, so kinda ur the bait). Honestly i wouldnt play graves solo que at all cause despite what ppl think he should be played in a arranged team where you can comunicate and position. :) well thats just my opinion dont know if it helps.

Graves does a ton of damage early-mid and kinda falls off late. You should be winning lane due to buckshot trades just being substantially better than what any other ADC can do. Midgame you will win almost any largescale fight assuming you use your ultimate properly. It's a lot like midgame orianna - very reliant on ultimate but completely turns fights if you use it well.

Late game can be difficult if the enemy has a high scaling ADC like Vayne, but Graves still kites very well and can still carry lategame. And you should be shitting on a Vayne in lane if they picked that, so her late game should come even later.

use your abilities when you're unable to AA then go into AA range when the kennen ult is done, that's the best you can do in that situation.

Short range ADC's usually have gap closers I believe. Graves has his dash thing that even boosts atk speed, and his passive gives him armor/res when in combat, plus his W has that reduce-field-of-vision thing which can screw most champs up if used correctly, especially ADC's if they're bad enough to not move while atking.

corki has Valkyrie which has a pretty long range and can jump terrain, easy engage/disenage. Plus in the current tank meta, his machinegun thing can shred armor, which is super great.

sivir has that (W skill iirc) bouncing blade which helps hit the back line where the squishies usually are, even if it means having to atk their tank or other units to make it bounce. plus spell shield and R to engage/disengage.

trist starts off short range but it grows with lvl, engage/disengage W, atk speed steroid Q, peel/disengage/burst R.

Varus can melt % hp in magic damage with W stacks and can root with ult, plus a hard poke Q.

tl;dr, they have different strengths based on their kit, just gotta know how to use them to your advantage.
