How to communicate better?

Okay so my last ranked game, we lost pretty badly due to lack of communication and stuff. I was support and early game I couldn't ward much (we held lane) so I didn't go back until 6 when I got my sightstone. In the beginning of the game their jungler came and ganked at level four, and their mid had some roam down bot so eventually there were four bot. Does this happen a lot in solo q? Like because we couldn't communicate either I think it turned out pretty badly. Any tips for this?

I use my smart pings a lot. (if we need help, if I'm coming to help, if my opponent is missing). Instead of using my smart warning ping I use CTRL + click ping because it's louder, so people will notice it more. Alt ping to target objectives or champions that need to be taken down.

Aside from that, I always keep track of dragon if we don't have a timer. If you hear dragon dying but don't have the timer count current time + 6 mins and say it in the chat. Also, get to the dragon's den/area always 1 minute before (tell your allies).

I always say things like "GJ", "NT" to encourage them. Little things like this helps.

and if you ping a laner ss ping it multiple times because it's hard to hear or notice if you only ping it once

for things you want to say that don't require pings just type it to your team (drag XX:XX, flash XX:XX etc.)

I hate to be that voice in a crowd shouting the same thing but pings are vital. Ping if; you are missing enemies, if you are on the way, if there is something dangerous, if you need help.

That and quick general comments such as "champion burned flash" if you have time to type it out. You don't need to (and shouldn't!!!) write out an essay but quick info can help someone make a better judgement call. If that champion is low enough for me to kill I might go in, if I hear their flash and heal are down then I will be more inclined because the kill is even more possible than I would have assumed.

Vision is something that is just as vital as communication and though you didn't ask about it be sure to ward. If someone watches their mini-map with any kind of efficiency they will notice that champion heading out of your lane because they have vision in the jungle.
