How do I Freeze my lane?

I have been playing top a lot lately and in lane I have no idea how to keep my wave from pushing forward to my enemies tower to where I can't farm or I get poked. How can I keep the wave in one place or have my enemy's wave push?

If my wave does end up at his tower what do I do? Wait it out or take the chance to b. But sometimes it ends up pushing to my enemy's tower way too early.

Edit: Also in most cases I am a lane bully which will often keep my enemy at a distance from the wave. He/She won't farm in some cases and this will cause the wave to push towards my enemy.

you play Anivia or Lissandra :P. ok all jokes aside you basically do nothing to the minions unless you can last hit them no abilities that could push the lane no auto attacking full hp minions etc

also once you see your wave is past mid and larger than you opponents start pushing it as hard as you can so the turret can reset for the waves

For your edit question, what i'd do is run around the enemies mage minions to make them be far from your minions as you last hit, this makes it so you push your enemy away for minions and he loses exp/gold. As a mid zed, i'll last hit a minion then run around his casters acting like im thinking going in on him, this makes it so my enemy has to lose exp because he is to far from the minions. Ofc your wave will push but he will slowly lose exp and gold.

You can start a freeze as early as level 1 if you are playing a safe farming top laner. The way to initiate a freeze level 1 is to run out in front of your minions until the 3 melee minions target you and juke into a bush. This causes the minions to all target the same melee minon from your wave and kill it very fast. From this point, be sure to only last hit. This means, that you do not want to kill a minion unless the next minion attack on it would (sounds simple, but very difficult to time right).

If you are building up a lead and want to freeze a lane at your turret, you need to be sure to let ranged and cannon minions live for as long as possible when the lane is pushing to you, and you need to shove hard to reset the lane if it's pushing away.
