Help with Katarina?

I've always been scared of ranked, so I've just played normals most of the time. I've always done pretty well with Kat, but I want to start ranked again soon and I don't want to be stuck in bronze forever.

I just came back from a hiatus, and I just wanted to ask if any of you have any tips for Katarina. I've been playing for a long time, so I know a lot about her and I quickcast, I just want to see if there's anything I haven't tried.

Liandry's isn't really that great for her, though Kat players seem to usually build it. Haunting guise is good early on but if you can afford it abyssal scepter might be a better way to go in terms of long-term potential.

Make sure you get help from a teammate before you try to take on mages with CC like Lulu or Fiddlesticks, and stay way clear of CC tanks like Alistar and Cho. Which is probably nothing new.

Utilize her ability to clean up; you should probably not be the team's initiate. Resets are your friend. Practice ward-jumping, for it can get you out of sticky situations and into good ones. Because you quickcast this should be even easier for you to do quickly.

If you want to play Katarina in ranked, only choose her if your team is going something CC heavy, otherwise it's easy for the opposing team to take you out in seconds. If the opposing team is CC heavy, probably not a good choice to go her either. I love Kat and consider her my main, however, she is good based on team comps. As a result, I generally have to go something CC.

Harass in laning phase with your Q and stack magic pen items. (I go haunting guise, sorcerer's boots, void staff, abyssal). Wait for a good gank, roam a lot when possible and get fed off of that. Once Katarina is fed, she's a monster.
