Is there a way out of ELO hell for Support mains?

So title basically says it all. I know I know if your good enough you can carry yourself from ELO hell... And to that I say bullshit. How is a Support supposed to get out solo when you deal with griefers trollers and afkers? Not saying I am a god tier support player by any means but I am a good support at the very least mid gold. So anyone got some tips? Maybe ill even stream if someone wanted to give tips. I dunno but this is becoming infuriating.

I got to D5 maining support, all 4 seasons that i have been playing, so .... ya it is much easier to climb now than it was in Season 1 and 2 with support, just don't play like shit.

And they are bad for helping new players. How many posts have I seen where a play is simply asking for advice or tips and they are told by higher elo players to uninstall, go die, and how bad they are then they laugh.

Oh so I shouldn't expose these people? That's how you change this game. But, you want me to just turn a blind eye to this? The way I am acting? How about doing something about them? Oh yeah, you are scared of them.

That doesn't mean to be toxic right back, because then they won. They turned you into one of them. The only way you can influence them is that report button at the bottom right corner of the post. If enough people share your sentiment they will be punished. If it's just you that feels that way I'm sorry but you're just going to have to deal with it.

And this is a video game forum. I'm not scared of him, you or anyone. If I don't like someone I ignore them. If they're berating someone I talk to whoever is the victim of their rants and pull them away from the problematic personalities on this forum.

I think that there's more to it than you're telling me but it is still up to the advisee to listen to or disregard said advice. High ELO players often don't agree with each other. But they are in a better position to be well informed about the game but they aren't necessarily right about everything. They have what worked for them and their opinions. And opinions cannot be wrong since they are opinions.

You still aren't in a position to call people liars and to blatantly bad mouth someone's stream saying "This is bad. This will not help him." You're free to do so, but that's your opinion. The original poster can still choose to listen to you or not. But please elaborate a bit more on your critiques of people's advice. If someone says something like "always build relic shield on Alistar" and you disagree don't write something like "You're wrong, you don't know what you're talking about." write something more along the lines of "I sometimes build ancient coin on my Alistar if I am up against a Soraka." The former response usually results in an argument whereas the latter response results in a discussion. And a discussion is what would help the Original poster if you don't like someone's advice because you can give reasoning as to why said advice is wrong.

You're blowing this out of proportion and your posts are emotionally charged. I also recommend that you take a break from here and go do something else. I don't know where you live but it's 4 am where I am. If you don't have to wake up this early for work like I do I suggest getting some rest. A good night's sleep always clears my mind.

you just keep saying that they are lying and not going into detail about why you believe it's wrong, and including either proof or research. even saying "people" like that discredits you a bit more. treat others with respect even when they don't treat you that way. it shows maturity.

from what I've gathered, you haven't played in season one or two and you are committing on how it was or wasn't different without actually having experience on it (ranked that is, not sure if you played normal during that time).

This is the same loaded language I just told you is inhibiting a positive discussion. And telling someone to jump off a bridge can actually get you on the radar of the mods. I made a thread a month ago about a Mitch Hedberg joke about how if someone jumps off the 14th floor of a hotel they really know what floor they are on and if they jumped out they would die sooner since Hotels don't include a 13th floor. In a way it is easier. As a support I keep track of jungle timers on dragon or baron or red and blue buffs. 2 seasons ago there was no dragon buff tracker. 2 seasons ago also didn't have these fancy support starter items we have now. Before people would start with a fairy charm, 2 wards and a bunch of potions. Gold generation on supports was super low and a support almost never got more than 2-3 completed items per game. There were no trinkets (free wards) either. 2 seasons ago there was also the assassin meta. You want to make a support feel useless? Get someone who can instagib their carries faster than the supports can peel for them. When Kassadin and LeBlanc were strong there was zero counter. The only thing that is harder now as the support is that there is now a ward cap. No champion can have more than 3 wards placed at one time. In season 3 the support was the primary (and sometimes only) warder on the team and could place as many wards as they could carry with them.

So yeah, the game is indeed easier to carry through the support role.

In comparison to season one and two. In the first two seasons supports got much less in resources. The role was played by going through laning to get a gold per second item or two (philosopher stone and heart of gold.) Both gave weak stats. Supports would get boots of mobility, and then their build was done. You would then spend all of your money on wards and oracles lens(400g for 3mins or until death.) The equivalent to sweeping lens but active all the time.

You would spend almost your entire time warding, and clearing wards.

Because the game had less anti snowball mechanics, you could end up 6 levels behind people in game.

With this small amount of insight, one should know that it would be much harder for someone to have any control over teamfights, and therefore the game was almost impossible to carry.

Supports now get more gold, free wards, never fall more than 4 levels behind, and have been buffed at the end of season 3/ beginning of season 4 to scale better with the items they did get (Janna's recent ult ap scaling was put was needed, that was a buff from that time. Ap lulu mid/top became common a short while after this. etc.)

Now I would love to hear your perspective as to how it is not harder to carry in S1-S2 as support.

I agree, though it's good that things are getting explained more into detail maybe like how it's gotten easier for supports to carry compared to other seasons. I like to look on the bright side of things at least.

Another thing you could try is, if you Support a good ADC in Solo Q you should add them and Duo Q with them instead. Same thing if you're a Jungle main and you're sick of getting incompetent Solo Laners.

Well for the real advice: Once you recognize which teammates are trash, don't try to carry them, just try to keep them in the game. Tell them to play passive and not try to win lane (or trades, if theyre losing those. A lot of people still make trades when they lose them, its bad af). Recognize who on your team has potential, and help gank for them, and if they win lane, you might still be able to win

Now really... Im doing this in plat too, recognizing who's the trash and who's decent. It's the same thing as "elo hell" so gl finding your reason to play, cause nobody's getting out any time soon xP

play Soraka you can keep your adc alive in pretty much any situation. if your adc sucks, starting building strictly ap and make those starcalls really hurt.

This season i have climbed from literally bronze 5 to s1 in promo to gold. So soon to be gold. I main ADC and play a mean vik mid. In bronze I realized that i had to main what made me win. So if you look me up i have 30 or so games on Udyr in the jungle. And then Nasus in the top. Unfortunately you have to play what will make you win. In ELO hell, you need to understand that 1) you most likely need to get better mechanically and 2) you need to play what makes you win. Try other roles but keep your "main" support. once you get to mid silver it gets better. But until then just play what you have to, to win, because maining support in bronze is like trying to win a fight blindfolded and both your hands tied behind your back. If you really wanna climb I recommend downloading a replay system. watching your games helps you understand what you should have done and what you did right. Last bit of advice is to never insult or try to instruct your team. They will flame and then blame you. Bronze is hell, be prepared.

Just started picking ADC back up again a few weeks ago after maining support for a really long time. I'm only performing very consistently on Sivir, but I want to pick up Kalista since it's Kalista free week. SO, performance may vary. :P)

honestly in elo hell if you play support your aim is either get wards to get vision so your team doesnt get stupidly ganked all the time or gain as much gold as you can so you can carry the game instead, bonus if you play wannabe supports like lux who ks everyone.

idk. probably get good with a playmaker that your team/adc has to be pretty braindead to not follow up on. you wanna make the plays and carry, you do the work and your team just cleans up with their damage.

i suggest Leona Thresh Blitzcrank .....

and then also off-meta supports that can turn you into a pseudo mid when u get fed...like maybe Xerath Velkoz although he has no "escape", imo xerath is pretty decent at support (assuming u can consistently hit most of your abilities). with his stun/slow combo, you don't really need an escape. serious, i like to play him against Zed

I'd say, you have to remember that the main progress is in your head. The color of the border won't make you a better or worst player in the next season. At the start of a game, there is just you and your own skill...

Also, don't be a dick and whine about ELO hell before you played your 300th match. I've been ranked in B4 for 3 consecutive seasons now... I still wait for a provisional where i wont lose 2 games out of 10 because of AFK players.

Stall, farm, ward to not get caught out and make the feed worse. Bonus points if you ward areas that will be important in the next 3 mins. Keep track of summoner spells and set up plays. Enemy top burned summoner 12 getting back to their tower? You now have 4 mins for your top laner to shove their lane and gank bot by using their to the ward you placed in the back of the lane bush before manipulating the wave to push into your tower and seal the gank. Build stacking items to taunt the enemy team and make them focus you instead of your idiot teammates (don't die if you do this). Build split pushing items like item 3512 item 3060 to divide the enemy's strength.

These are just a few of the things you can do to, you know, play better.

I had already had lost one game of my series, then got trolled by a Caitlyn who refused to play after she dived and died while I was back at base. So I lost my series, then got matched with a string of different troll Caitlyn's who either intentionally fed to spite someone or ragequit, and this happened all the way down to 0LP. I'm a fairly decent support, and anyway its not like anybody played horribly those games, I just get stuck with players that live with the trollelo mentality. Every. Single. Game.

So now I play ARAM if I'm not playing with my team.

I am right there with you man. Last 4 out 5 games this has happened to me. But none of the expert players will give a honest answer.

Well I haven't exactly seen you make a post asking for people to give you tips on how to improve so I havn't exactly tried to help you because of that. If you do make a post I can easily spectate a game pulled from op.gg and give pointers, but I'm not going to do it without you asking in your own post.
