Can't win ranked games?

Lately I had a winning streak of about 5 normal games so I decided to ranked. I lost pretty badly. I played another normal and won hen another ranked and loss. The chain goes on until I finish my provisionals with 4-6 placed in bronze 1. I don't know how I'm performing much better in normals than ranked. Probably because I get nervous and tense up. I fail to perform as good as I do in normals like clearing objectives, kills etc. How can I improve this? I don't want to drop any lower :(

if this is your first season, thats a pretty high place to start granted most of us get bronze 1-3 some people get silver depending on earlier seasons just play ranked like its norms and youll do fine, play some norm draftpick, its the same without the pressure to practice counterpicking and bans

You'll most likely fall to bronze 3 before you stabilize because completing your provisional will usually place you a little higher than your skill cap.

Not a fact, but I've seen countless new players continue to fall lower.

To prevent falling lower? Just don't lose matches. The way the mmr / ranking system works is based off did you win or lose. It does not take into account how well you personally did in a match. Some advice i have for you in bronze (I placed Bronze 1 last season and ended gold 5)

  1. if you are good at playing a champion or a specific role, go for that role rather than let the guy below you in pick order get it. If you know you can adc but you try to be nice and let some other guy have adc, there is a good chance (in bronze) that other guy blows dick and will cost you the game. That said, if you are confident you can play another role well then feel free to do so.

  2. Know the rules in champ select, pick order > Call order. I saw you asking what normal draft pick was earlier, its the same thing as ranked except it does not affect your ranking. In blind pick if you call top first, you get top. In ranked / draft pick you can call top all day long, but if someone picks it before you do tough, gotta play something else. (NOTE: If someone calls a role and you pick it anyway this is not a bannable offense, don't listen to trolls or elo terrorists.) which leads me to #3....

  3. Never negotiate with elo terrorists. Now that you are in ranked you will encounter elo terrorists pretty commonly till you reach mid-high silver. This is because these people are already in bronze and don't believe they can drop much lower anyway, they are willing to cause the rest of the team a loss intentionally because they didn't get to play X champion or X role. Do not encourage their behavior, most of the time they don't follow through with their threats. for the ones that do, report them and move on. Eventually when you play enough games that one loss some idiot caused you will be canceled out by your wins, provided that you are good enough to win in your division.

  4. Do not be discouraged if you drop ranks. The system does its best to place you where you belong, if you get placed in bronze 5 you probably really do belong there or you tried to get there intentionally and need to study / practice / seek advice etc to get out.

  5. NEVER DUO QUEUE WITH ANYONE MORE THAN 2 DIVISIONS +/- FROM WHERE YOU ARE. This is an all around bad idea, the match making system compensates for this by finding a medium between you. say for example you are bronze 1 and i am silver 1. We would likely be matched with people in mid silver if we queue together. What this does is put you against people you likely are not ready to face, and the rest of your team will beleive you know the game at least on a silver level and will hold you to that, even though you are bronze. This will cause mis plays and probly some flaming later on.

  6. If you ever see someone call duo bot, dodge the game immediately (Click the X at the top right of the screen and restart the league client) I'm not even kidding 9/10 times duo bot lanes feed, rage, afk / disconnect and at least one of them is either high or drunk. Dodging one time will lose you 3 LP but that's better than wasting minimum 20 minutes of time AND losing 15-25 LP
