Lulu support tips?

hii, .w. as a lulu main, I started playing her as a top carry to the point where i now play her as mid carry. i dont really have trouble in either lanes, she has really high burst damage early game. most of the time i buy 3 doran ring 90% of my games as it helps me in fights and when im in need of space or gold, i just sell them. so my top/mid game as lulu is at top notch. the only problem is my support role as her.

Support: i have the most trouble playing lulu at a support, i feel like there are other really good supports other than lulu. she doesnt really have high burst damage as a support, in fact, its really weak after midgame. the first build i start is a spellthief and some pots, that or crystalline flask and pots to play more aggro. throughout the laning phase, when i back, i upgrade spellthief or buy a sightstones, then buy boots of mobility as always, buy items that will build for mikaels, and finish up anything else that i bought (bar sights). then what else do i build? after i have all my core items, i dont know what to do next, ofc i usually stay with adc or roam to ward and sweep out wards, but is that just it? in a team fight, i help them initiate by whimsying and shielding them, or when the opposing team trys to initiate, i polymorph any champ that will do the most damage and keep my adc safe, that and helping out the rest of the team by ulting/shielding them. is that all there is to it? i want to damage as well, but my damage isnt really as high when im cast e+q on someones face. what should i be building if i want damage? am i not supposed to build damage? what should i build on most regular support games? should i peel or keep aa'ing and using my abilities on my allies?

Edit: thx for the replies, i got a better understanding on what i should be building/playing.

Regular support games feature you not doing a lot of damage. AP on Lulu is certainly not a bad choice since it helps you support better as well, but you're not there to primarily deal damage. Peel for your ADC (tip: slow whichever mofo is going for the ADC) and support your team. Let them shine.

Wut? I always poke down people in bot lane as lulu support. I always make sure my damage is relevant and remains that way so that I can keep applying massive pressure through poke.

You really shouldn't just auto go mobi or auto go mikaels. Does your enemy team even have sufficient CC to justify the purchase of a mikaels? Are you usually the one who forces an engage? Are you constantly needing to get to teammates? Mobis are nice but if you want your poke to remain relevant; you need sorc boots. Or if you want to focus more on your CC potential, lucidity would be best.

Be as annoying at possible. Haha. High mana regen, and poke and slow any chance you get. It flusters the opposing champ.

Here's a quick tip: If you're facing an enemy with a channeled ultimate (Katarina, Shen, Warwick, Galio, Nunu, Karthus, Lux, Xerath, Fiddlesticks, Janna, Vel'Koz, Pantheon & Wukong) try saving your W just for them. A good Lulu always shuts down a Katatina because that's one less lane she can get fed off of. Oh you want to do your spinning murder thing? NOPE! Now you're a purple critter. Can also be used to interrupt an enemy's teleport. In most other situations though you will want to use W on an ally.

Also, look into buying Ardent Censer. The increased attack speed makes the most of Pix's AA buff on your target.

I'd recommend lucidity boots vs mobis honestly.

There's the ye old double vroom vroom, (item 3069 & item 3800 ). Great initiating power just by running them down. Also the recently buffed coin gives a huge amount of passive sustain and much more gold, if not greater than spellthiefs.

You don't need to build damage as your the cc machine. Focus on mana regen & cdr to cap, If you need ap it'd probably be best to get a Luden's since the proc works well with low ap but it's a lot of money to invest as opposed to say Aegis.

Just like any role, everybody plays support a little differently. As long as you focus on utility instead of damage or anything else for that matter, you can excel at support. Your job is to allow the ADC to get to mid/late game and then provide your team with the CC, shields, heals, etc they need. How you do that depends on the support you are playing.

With Lulu, you have pretty good poke in lane, although you will run out of mana fast. Start with a gold item (I've been starting item 3303 , but haven't fully experimented with the item 3301 coin buffs) then ideally you buy your sight stone item 2049 on your first back along with your ADC's BF Sword back (don't forget to exchange your yellow trinket for a red item 3341 once you buy sight stone). After that you probably want Mobi boots item 3117 (helps you rush across the map and help other lanes or ward) and a mana regen item (I recommend item 3222 , although I have run Morello's or Athene's before just fine). Your build should generally focus on utility and tankiness, although if you are very far ahead you might want to pick up an AP item, like Zhonya's or Abyssal. I personally prefer exchanging my spellthief edge for coin and eventually building item 3069 Talisman, since I prefer Talisman's active and stats. Lastly, be sure to update your trinket and BUY PINK WARDS!! :)

If you are already familiar with Lulu, I won't go into too much detail on how to play her. I will mention that generally you want to shield your allies rather than E your enemies, except maybe when chasing for a long range slow/vision. Your ADC will use your passive more quickly than you, and if they come out with more HP than the enemy, you've won the trade. Her W on the other hand, you may want to save to use on the enemy, as it can be a very powerful trade and peel tool. For example, if you are trading with the enemy duo, just pop W on the enemy ADC and they can't deal damage at all for a couple seconds. Another instance you might want to save it is for an enemy Zed that dives on one of your carries in the team fight. When you have nothing else, use your autos; they may not seem like much but they still deal damage and every little bit can count, especially with Pix's damage on top of your autos. All in all, if you know how to play Lulu, you can figure out the rest. You just have to learn how to play support as well.

Good luck! If you have any questions, just ask! I play a lot of Lulu myself, mostly on support, but top and mid as well. :)

Hi Vbluichu,

Platinum Support main here. Lulu is a really strong champ laning and Lulu's teamfights are amazing. http://na.op.gg/summoner/userName=d3miglace

I personally do not like to build frost queens claim. It is way to expensive for not that much of a powerspike. I just leave it at spelltheif's until I come across an item mid game that i want and sell it for the upcoming teamfight. It costs 2200! for 50ap and 10% cdr? That's horrible. that's most likely 1/4th of your total gold as a support by the time the game is done. Also on lulu if you are close enough to land the active on frost queen's claim you could've already "E" skilled and "Q" for the slow. With how the ancient coin is buffed now it might even be a better investment as it scales into late also talisman has a huge amount of utility for your team it's a sivir ultie you can basically get every 32 seconds and you can catch people out with a whimsy ancient coin on your primary engage.

In Teamfights/peeling for your team ok so Lulu is extremely high utility. You essentially have 6 cohesive abilities you can us yes you want to peel for your carry. For instance..Say the enemy team has irelia/diana/darius/zed/akali any assassin that wants to gobble up your carry. Your job is to peel when they dive your primary job right then is to polymorph them as soon as they dive in to touch your carry. Then They are silenced and poly'd in the middle of your team hopping around helplessly. This gives your adc the required times to kite them when they get up. you can also put pix on the polomorph'd enemy and Q them when they are out of the poly. You would want to use your "E" as a sheild on your carry and just q the enemy.

Lulu Ult : When to Ult as lulu is crucial at swaying a teamfight in your direction. Reading a teamfight is one of the hardest things to do in league. Keeping track of enemy/ally cooldowns and abilities to make a decision on when to spend yours. They're most likely going to target your carries the people who do the most dmg and have the least armor you want to prioritize keeping them on the field as long as you can. but if your engage can find a way into the enemy team and they're bursting your tank down while your teamates are trying to catch up use your ult on the tank to buy a few more seconds for your team to take them down.

Lulu LULU BUILD:

I highly recommend either building out Ancient coin or if you decide spelltheif's then not to build it out because the gold is needed elsewhere.

On Lulu I run sorcerer's shoes for the bonus +15 spell pen. You Don't need mobility boots on lulu because you already have a speed up every 8 seconds to speed boost you places around the map.

Mikael's is situational if they have lockdown (ashe arrow, Malz Ult, galio..etc) Your kit has a built in silence! Polymorph those fools! If you want to pack a punch mid game build an Athene's into a rabadon's. Rabadon's is great because it scales with everything and it's a HUGE powerspike for lulu!

My typical Lulu build: Spellthief's Edge 2 mana 2 health pots at start. Sightstone vision ward more mana/health pots boots. Sorcerer's Shoes Chalice of Harmony (for mana regen). Athene's Unholy Grail (Spam abilities and cdr). Morellonomicon is amazing for if you want to cap your cdr. Haunting Guise-> Another +15 Spell pen only costs 1485. Rabadon's. I might go aegis if they have a lot of AP before rabadon's as my last couple items.

Also if you get fed early dont be afraid to buy Needlessly Large rod and a couple green wards and buy a deathcap first.

Add me in game d3miglace if you want to play together sometime I can show you some tricks I've learned.

I hope this helped!
