Iceborn irelia
How would iceborn gauntlet be on irelia? Seems legit gives her all the stats you would want on her armor,mana ap and cd

It's not that Iceborne is bad on Irelia it is just how good Tri force is. The attack speed for more damage from W, phage for sticking power (which is the advantage of iceborne anyway) and sheen procs deal more damage. Tri force gives you all the damage you need the whole game except 40+ min games that are close. So with all the damage taken care of you are free to build full tank if necessary.
So then there is Frozen heart which gives you the mana and cd you mentioned except even better. CDR is actually very valuable on Irelia due to more stuns in team fights and chasing if you don't get a Q reset. I build it second almost every game.
If the enemy team is all AD or if you need to get armor early to survive lane just grab either of the components for Frozen Heart first. The only problem with Tri force Frozen heart first two items is you still don't have extra hp. IMO the best build vs all ad would be

It's legit to get an Iceborn on Irelia early when you are facing a full AD team.
If you're not, Triforce is usually the better pick. In fact it offers Ire much rather the stats she would want (she hasn't got the scalings on CDR etc.) and with Ire's E the Iceborn slow is not worth that much usually. Mind you, you cannot build both effectively due to their unique passives. And usually you will be going for a tanky build with just tri/gauntlet+botrk/zephyr to boost your offensive stats. Triforce offers you more here.
Also, you can get most of the Iceborn stats in Frozen Heart if you like. So you can well build for something like Mercury+Botrk+Triforce+Randuin+Spirit+Heart and still wear your Triforce. The heart simply offers you more of everything there, safe for a tiny amount of AP, at a lower price and adds the beautiful aura that can carry teamfights.
If you do run Iceborn on Irelia, make sure you pick Frostbutt Irelia. Just because. ;-P
It would be ok if Tri-force rush wasn't necessary 95% of the time. With both you are wasting the second spellblade passive and you would be better off just getting frozen heart, since your AP scaling isn't really worth your while.
