A question from a climbing SilverIV player.

Ahrily Dont Ahri·2/1/2015, 8:15:16 AM·1 votes·749 views

Hey guys,

So I've been playing league for quite a while, but I only started getting serious about it (ranked) about 10 months ago. I decided that I would main Ahri Ahri , and after a bit I just ended up becoming a One Trick Pony.

At this point, I ***literally *** cannot play many other champs well other than Ahri. However, I still do however end up carrying hard (somehow) most of the times even if I end up having to go Top/APC/Supp with her. (I didn't dare to try Jungle yet)

A lot of people tell me that what I'm doing is bad and that I need to learn more champs, since I don't do very well at all when I don't play her. Also, they always tell me that she isn't the best solo queue champion for hyper carrying out there and that I should be climbing ranks faster.

I attempted to learn numerous different types of champions, but I never find it fun for a extended period of time. At this point I'm really confused why I only have fun when I'm playing Ahri. It just seems like I can't find a champ with Ahri's playstyle.

Should I just continue to be a One Trick Pony and only play Ahri? Or do you guys think I should master other champs as well? If you think I should learn a new champ that I may find fun to play, please recommend it below!

Thanks for reading this, I would really like your feedback.

Look, I've been in the same boat as you before and could only use Ashe but then after trying so hard I learned to use other champs because there are times when you won't be able to do what you want to do (as in lane) or because your champ gets banned or is being used by the opponent. I learned how to play Supp when Braum came out and I boought Zed back when I started (and couldn't use him well at all at first) but I learned how to use him a few weeks back. I also learned how to use Pantheon, Gnar and other ADCs (like Kalista) so now I can go as ADC, Supp, Mid or Top so it's easier for me to into multiple roles depending on who gets banned and who gets used. I highly recommend learning other champs instead of just focusing on one (speaking from experience) it won't end well being a One Trick Pony. Don't do what I did and focused on multiple roles with one champ, learn other roles with OTHER champs, becuase if it get banned or used by someone else then you will only end up putting you're team in danger. This is all the advice I can give you on the matter.

You should definitely learn other champs, not only does it diversify your roles better, it also allows you to learn how to play against that champion when it's vrsing you. I'm not saying you should spend weeks mastering it, just get proficient enough that you have a back up when ahri gets picked/banned/or you're stuck adc/jungle.

Honestly if you keep doing what you're doing, you can probably reach gold but it's always good to have back ups.

For example ahri isn't the best support because she doesn't have great utility or innate damage. For instance an unfed annie is still going to be useful support because of her AoE stun tibbers and is tanky with molten shield. Ahri, unlike some ap caster, needs more items to be strong enough to assassinate, which is hard to get when you're suppose to relegate your farms to the adc. It's not impossible and definitely doable but if your lane feeds first blood or double kill, it's gonna be a long laning phase (unless jungle camps bot).

Try other mobile champions. You gotta remember though... you are bound to have some bad games when you start using new champions, but if you really like to break through, you just gotta keep pushing, and you'll get the hang of the champ. Some will disappoint and you won't play them again, but others you may find you can do better than with Ahri... maybe. So yeah, don't limit yourself!

I'm sort of having the same problem too, except with Jax Jax . I've been branching out a lot lately (I should say AGAIN, because I used to main ADC back in season 3 and early to mid season 4 ). Though I guess its ok with me since I have a special love for Jax, his lore, his skins, his skills, and his everything :).
