Hi all, Is it true that you can collect points and win free pool party skins from league of legends?

There was a global community event where gifting skins or winning a game as premade 5 contributed points towards unlocking tiers of rewards. The community came one tier short of the final tier, which was a free pool party Mundo skin for everyone that contributed.
tl;dr it was an event and we didnt get the free skin.
