I've been considering buying another top laner and I have my eyes on Shyvana. I've heard she's kind of in a weak spot atm so I am kind of questioning whether I should buy her or not. Any tips or advice to help me decide (I'm also set on buying Trundle)
The top laners I play currently are Rumble, Lulu, Maokai, and Nidalee.
After buying Shyvana recently, I have to say, she is a fun champ to play as, and is worth giving a whirl. She is in a weak spot, since the only jump/escape is her ult once she has 100 fury. The only reason she's in that spot, is because all other top laners have better CC skills than Shyvana, and she has a knock back from her ult. But I thoroughly enjoy her a lot. I went against a Riven with a Hecarim Jungle, and I had a friend as Irelia Jungle. The movement speed burst from Shyvana's W saved me whenever Hecarim attempted to gank me. If you'd like, I can tell you an ideal item build for Shyvana
She's not in the best spot at the moment after her nerfs, the nerfs to the Perseverance mastery, Spirit Visage and Sunfire Cape, and the meta shift to ranged top laners. She's probably still viable, but not as strong as she once was.
I prefer durable top laners with high scaling, so I would recommend trying Irelia, Nasus, and Mundo. This advice also applies to Trundle. They scale very well in duels and teamfights, Irelia is very strong against ranged opponents and also capable of dueling bruisers, and are very difficult to push out of lane with a Doran's Shield and Health Regen quints augmenting their natural sustain.
Though, judging by your current top laners you seem to prefer lane bullies. If that's the case, I would suggest Gnar, Yorick, and Kayle.
If I play Shyvana, its jungle. She's pretty good honestly when used and built right, but you have to get the gold from ganking and counter jungling well. She has a pretty fast clear time which helps. With her nerfs and Cinderhulk being nerfed, she's kind of in a bad way atm, defintiely still usable though. Also, her dance emote is adorable, which is the most important part.
try j4 with ad and armor pen. remember to use ur passive often. u can beat anybody
as shyv get flash point to either escape or get ontop of a fleeing enemyusing burnout and sunfire cape and finish with twin bite usually takes them out if thyre at half health if u build right id actually use her recomended build for the most part and get lifesteal items and movement speed because most enemies will flee from shyv as soon as they c her shes op 1v1 irella may b 1 of the only 1s that can beat her
She is bad as a blind pick top laner because her bad match ups are really bad, and they encompass nearly all the match ups.
She does work very well as a jungler though, as long as you find a way to get the money for the items she needs.

I think she's gonna be more viable for jungling after this season. I play her as jungler a lot, I recently got a quadra :)
Got a penta in ranked as Shyvana the other day, in my gold promos no less. She's not a safe 1st pick anymore, but if you aren't countered laning can be a breeze and carrying is definitely possible. I disagree with the people who build BOTRK first though, unless I'm against a Mundo for example. Tiamat ftw.
shes really good but shes a mix of top laner/jungle/river
