Why do people choose kills over objectives/farm?

Just had a terrible game in silver where it keeps happening Our nexus turrets are getting attacked, but guess what? The enemy is low so we gotta chase them! This is like the most terrible explenation but it happens, too often.

Can anybody explain me why people keep seeing kills as priority all the time? And how can you make them see they shouldn't teamfight all the time out of nowhere, and instead (YES PLEASE) place wards to prevent surprise attacks when farming?

[EDIT: I play support very often so I cannot def myself]

In silver most people are braindead when in comes to map awareness. Pings are your only option & even than it's hard since they will probaly ignore you if you aren't fed as a support.

If your nexus turrets were getting attacked, chances were you were behind in the game and likely to lose.

If you're going to lose the game anyway, might as well improve your KD, take something away from the loss.

...because most people in Silver are actually Bronze-level material. They want kills rather than turrets. They want Baron rather than inhibitors (resulting in throwing at Baron & losing anyway). MORE GAMES ARE LOST FROM THROWING AT BARON THAN FOR ANY OTHER REASON!!! (The second-most common reason is everybody else feeding 30 kills in 5 minutes then /FF'ing@20min [for me it is the second most-common reason anyway])

Happened last night to me in unranked. Our team was doubled up on their kills 40-20 when I remember looking and also we had 4 dragons to their 0. They got an inhib down before we did because my team would chase rather then going for towers or inhib. We ended up winning but still frustrating

Happened to me last night when I was in teambuilder. We had a Yi jungle that was so concerned about getting kills he chased the enemy jungler Nidalee out of our base and ignored 2 other champs that were there beating on our inhibitor. Team kept chasing champs for kills and minions were piling up at our towers. Luckily I was playing support Zyra so I had some damage to take care of the waves, but I was really just delaying the inevitable. Ended up just building AP and did the most damage on my team to champions.
