Do you constantly lose your promotional series? Do you constantly get "crappy" teammates?

I constantly see people posting on forums that they just lost their promotional series because they had a “crappy” team, or because they did not get their preferred “main” role. If that’s what you usually say, well after reading my post, I hope you’ll gain some valuable information that hopefully you may be able to apply next time you’re one game away from being promoted to the next division/tier.

"I didn't get my main/preferred role." You lost your match because you didn’t get your preferred role? So you’re telling me that you believe you deserve be in a higher division/tier, while you are only capable of playing a single role efficiently and effectively? You’re telling me that you can only win games if you play BLANK role? A player is only as good as their worst role. Something all players have to realize and understand is that just like in life, you’re not always going to get what you want. You’re going to have to adapt to whatever is thrown at you. Something else that ALL ranked players should know is that if you’re going to play ranked you NEED to know and be fairly decent at Supporting, Jungling, and any other role. Why? It’s simple, every now and then you’re going to be last pick and you might have to JG, or Support, so you might as well prepare for it. This leads me to my second point.

"Ask yourself." Did you EVERYTHING you could possibly do in your part to prepare for and win the game? Did you practice the other 4 roles that aren’t your “main” role? Did you have a backup plan to what you could do in the case that you didn’t get your role? Did you ward every possible time that you could have? Did you land all your skill shots? (If you had any). Did you have perfect CS for the first 15 minutes? Did you ping when your laner was missing? Did you waste a summoner spell when you shouldn’t have? Did you help and roam when you had the opportunity to? Did you know what you were doing, in terms of what objectives to get, or did you just go with the flow of the game? I’m fairly sure, you did not do all of this, because even the professionals don’t always do it. There is always something you can improve on, or get better at. Maybe if you would have stayed in lane a bit longer and got a few more CS, you could’ve affording a different item, or a health pot that may have saved your life.

"Reason for EVERY loss."* The only way any player can lose a match is by losing objectives throughout the whole game. There isn’t a single sole reason why a game was lost, other than lots of tiny mistakes throughout the game. Something low-elo, and even some mid to high elo players fail to realize is that kills, DO NOT win you the game. You can go 50 – 0, and that will not win you the game! League of Legends is not like Call of Duty, where the first team to 50, 75, or even 100 kills wins. League of Legends is a tactical game made up of hundreds of thousands of decisions, with the main objective of destroying the enemy Nexus. Until you as a player are able to comprehend that your ultimate goal in every match should be destroying the enemy Nexus, you will not improve as you possible can. For those of you, that are think, “What is this guy is talking about, kills are freaking important!?” Yes, I know that kills are important, and that they strongly influence the outcome of the game, but they are not how a game is won. A game is won, by playing AS A TEAM to get objectives, such as dragon, towers, inhibs, Baron, and the Nexus. These are a few things that low-elo/new players have a hard time to grasp and understand. If you look at the professionals, they seem to always be doing something, or trying to get an objective.

"But I deserve to BLANK division/tier" Until you, as a player understand the importance of lasting hitting, grouping, item selection, managing runes & masteries, game mechanics, warding, team fighting, and pushing objectives, you’ll have a rough time. If you truly want to become a better player, and climb the ranked ladder, well then practice! Record your games so you can watch and analyze what you may have done wrong, or what you could have done that would have changed the outcome of the match. Watch streamers, tutorial videos, learn new champions, and practice roles you struggle with. Remember, you CANNOT always get what you want, and you’re only as strong as your weakest role. I don’t mean to discourage or piss off anyone reading this, but take it from me, a Diamond V (75 LP) player, there is always something you can get better at, and you have to deal with and accommodate with the team that you have. Even when their “crappy”.

Was really hoping the first line was "Hi Billy Mays here with a great product called "Blame Yo Self", a revalutionary invention that makes you take a step back and evaluate your own performance, rather than blame your teamates". In all serious though you nailed it on the head and get an upvote from me.

look dude i lost promotional series from silver 4 to silver 3 about 10 times before i finally got to silver 3.

its about time you elitist pricks get used to it there are people out there in all divisions that are set on making you lose.

there are people out there that if you ask them nicely not to be agressive in the way they play go in a raging rampage and get the enemy horribly fed while also getting a few kills here and there to make sure that the enemy team gets their full reward for killing them.

im not complaining here but every time i see one of these "git gud" threads i get sick to the stomach

its 80% luck 20% skill in this game unless they bring massive changes to the way the ranking system goes this will not change.

Dunno, I can ask myself all I want. - I'm still not that dude that went 0/12/0 in 20 minutes, flamed everyone and then ragequitted. Or that guy who stood afk in base the entire game because his support took 2 cs. Or that guy who died once on toplane, disconnected and never came back. Or that guy who takes "just play safe now" as a personal insult, flames everyone and starts intentionally feeding...

The moment you hit a promo you attract people like that magicially... and no, you can't turn games like that around... that might go in bronze where the enemy team can throw harder than one might belive, but not when you are up against a team that somehow knows what they are doing.

I was just skimming through the post but didn't see a part that mentions intentional feeders or people who afk because they didn't get mid.

Could have accidentally skipped it though.

That reminds me I need to work on adc and mid.

On topic, I don't want to be that guy in ranked. I want to be at least decent in all roles. luckly I do not have to be adc or mid often. When I have to be I don't want to feed, at least be relevant, and not be the reason the enemy team snow balled hard.

what a shitpost. sure kids do something bad in a game but when you have incompetent fucking retards called north american players its a coin flip every game. Some games the top/adc goes 6-32 some games they go even and you can carry the incompetent ra tards

im good but im not good enough to carry myself out...if i get a good team and they all on point i preform up to scale with them but if i get the ones that wander aimlessly into and out of lanes i struggle cause im more of a you lead i follow player i got your back type...thats how i feel about what i am capable of ....b4ever

The thing with promos is that, you need a 75% win rate. You have to win 3 out of 4 games, the one to get into promos, and 2/3 in promos.

You are going to encounter all the same issues you normally do, AFKs, not getting preferred role, whatever. but, it's a lot harder to compensate for it when you can only afford 1 loss in 4 games.

believe it or not, i do lose if i dont play jg lol. i win if i get jg, even with crappy team mates. my win/lose outcome depends if i get jg or not. i can play other roles, but i excel in jg.

p.s i also lose when i play with toxic duos. not even god himself could carry that game.

I'm not sure if I skipped it or simply forgot I read it, but another thing people need to learn as they play league is to keep a level head. As soon as a player starts to tilt they lose focus on what they're doing, and start worrying about what everyone else is doing instead, resulting in poor play, lack of warding, bad KDA, etc. Great post overall. I'm happy with the information here.

Everything about this post is true. Except he neglected the fact that there are times where teammates ARE shit and "crappy" and only brings you down.

You can be awesome and the best Vayne player in the tier but matchmaking will match you with shit players to bring your win rate to 50%. In this case, you have to try super hard and give it an extra 100% effort to win the game. Unfortunately, your skill caps you at a level and you just can't take on a 2v5 or 3v5. You can constantly ping and type reminders of flash and ults through out the game, but when these crappy players have no clue and no awareness of anything, it's pointless.

Also, this post is directed not just at you, but the enemy team as well. You can do your best and focus on your own play, well, so can the enemy team and it just depends on who focuses and excel better. When you've given all you've got, at the end of the game, you just look back at who the fuck did worst and who the fuck didn't do their best.

No you are wrong. There can be a single tiny sole reason a game is lost. One single baron call can throw an entire game if its at a bad time even if your winning the game. One single bad positioned adc can throw the game even if your ahead. One single mistake is all it takes to lose a game

Predatore8/17/2015, 3:47:01 PM1 votes

Im bronze so this is happening all the time. First game of promo's is a win. Second game is a loss, not because of trolls, just outplays. Third game "MID OR FEED". "A summoner has disconnected." This happens 50% of the time i hit promos.
