Low MMR from supporting

Hey guys! I'm currently a Silver II player on the NA server and main support. I was just wondering if supporting can cause you to have low MMR. Since MMR runs off of KDA and wins/losses I was wondering if having that low KDA from supporting creates a low MMR. I currently gain about 13-16 LP per win and lose around 19-21. I know this means that the game believes I should stay in this rank, but I was wondering if there was anyway around it. You can search me on lolskill.net, Macaw351. I think I play a pretty good support so I am hoping you guys can answer my questions. Thanks!

mmr is only based off wins and losses kda means nothing. as you said the lp loss/gain is effected by your wins and losses vs other players. if you start to win more you will start to see more lp for wins and less for losses.

KDA include assists as well, my recent support scores are 3/10/31 and 6/4/26, also KDA isn't everything mmr calculates. They probably calculate mmr based on who you vrs as well. Either way I got to plat having support as my 2nd most picked role and there are diamond+ support mains so....

If you think you are good enough to move up in ranked then you should just start playing a Support that can carry harder if your other teammates are lacking. Personally, I play Sona and take kills/build damage and start carrying from there. I think moving up in ranked is reliant on you as a player rather than your teammates. You can only get carried so far without improving yourself.

Support generally has a smaller impact on determining the game being without farm and relying on someone else to be on the same page as you. I would suggest changing roles to move up or play a more damage oriented support. Try Annie, Sona, Karma or Morgana and then you can start securing kills on your own and carrying. Obviously this isn't the preferred Support meta for most players, but it's gotten me to Platinum now and hoping to progress further.

Thank you everyone for all the tips! I'll start practicing with sona this weekend since it's a three day break. I already have Sona, just haven't used her yet. Hoping to grind before season starts

KDA Has nothing to do with it friend. I main support and went from b1 to p5 last season as a support. The major factor i saw is you have to have above a 50% win ratio to start moving up drastically. When i went from 48% to 53% i started jumping divisions, s4 and s2, and was gaining 24 lp per game losing 18 per loss. So just make sure your W/L ratio is above 50 and you will be set

Ok, thanks. I still have a positive win/loss ratio and my duo partner who is the same rank as me gets more lp. But thats replying back!
