I'm a creative support player and I've had success with the following: Nunu Amumu Annie Brand Cassiopeia Darius Fiora Galio Gragas Kennen Karthus Malphite Maokai Nasus Shen Sejuani Nautilus Zac Ryze Veigar Sion Quinn Urgot Mordekaiser Viktor TwistedFate Xerath

Then again, I'm bronze2. Every thing works in that ELO

As a support main here are a few. And not just mentioning.

Xerath: You want to lane with someone such as Varus, Jinx, Cait, for their poke will not allow their ADC to farm. As for runes/materies. You may go 21/0/9 or 9/0/21 and for runes I usually run MR, AP and Scaling AP. You can get Movespeed with him. for this build you want 40 CDR. Depending on their comp you might want to get Void Staff and Liandry's. For Boots either Sorc or Swiftness.

In laning phase abuse your passive (mana regen) and spam as much as you can on the ADC but don't stand in their range. Xerath's Q is around 1400 units. One of the longest range skills and no ADC should be able to reach you. You are squishie stand behind your ADC and minions, if they engage Q their support (high CC) then slow their ADC and at that range you should be able to Q safety.

For teamfights, same as the lane actually, stand behind your team, ward around, and you will not initiate, but rather you need to spam your Q on their team. If you get Luden's Echo as well, you should deal a huge amount of damage. Remember to keep your E-R up. Mid game you should be able to cast your Q every 3 seconds. Your W and E should have around 5-7 secs.

Xerath will be extremely annoying and hard to deal will, except 4-5 man gank at early levels. This is why I get movespeedrunes.

Anivia: With Anivia you should get movespeed runes and armor per level + MR per level and of course Magic Pen. For Masteries you can do 0/9/21, 9/0/21 or even 0/14/16. You should build RoA, get Liandry's as well. Zhonya's and probably Abyssal. Or do a troll thing. I build Zhonya's + Guardian Angel and bait the enemy team into killing me while my team is nearby waiting for their CD's. It's a troll bait and it works everytime.

For the ADC, you want someone with some sort of CC and escapes. I would say Lucian, Kalista and Graves will be perfect since they can hop over your wall.

For the laning phase you want to land your Q and then E as much as you can on the ADC. Make sure to ward since Anivia is slow. Sometimes I get teleport on her cause she is freaking too slow to get back in lane.

For teamfights, please as your team to take everyteam fight in to the jungle, that's where Anivia becomes a goddess.

Hope this helps.

Nautilus Velkoz Brand Annie Malphite Xerath

Off the top of my head.

Icestar11869/6/2015, 5:43:21 PM1 votes

I like Malphite and Volibear, myself. I don't play support often enough to have a huge amount of games with them, but they work pretty well.

Vel'koz, nautilus, and annie. I practically main nautilus support at this point, it's very strong.

Both Nautilus and Annie are strong and easy to play as supports.

Leona, morgana

Though ive never tried it myself ive seen and been told that Sejuani makes for a fantastic support. Pre-6 she has gapclose and CC via her Q, %hp damage and an AoE slow via her W and E, and once she gets 6 her all-in potential is even greater than that of Leona. If you pair a Sej with someone like Ashe or Jinx, who can add their own CC to Sejs, then your opponents are in for a really rough time.

Stop trolling lol, literally everything everyone has said has been troll advice. If you are trying to pick up and learn a role, NEVER try off meta or hip champs/builds. It's like in Super Troopers, training an academy cadet the wrong way, on purpose, as a joke. Learn the right way before you begin to experiment with other stuff. Don't try supports like LeBlanc or Anivia or Xerath, because what they do is the same thing they do mid lane except they dont last hit and usually try to give kills instead of get kills

Real support provide vision, are tanky and durable enough to protect their adc, have not only some form of CC but also engage/disengage/peel . And utility. If you're playing a squishie mage support, don't think just because you have range and a slow or whatever you're actually helping. Because when Leona Zenith Blade's your adc (since these people are telling you to stay behind your adc) you aren't protecting them, and Graves e's up and blows your adc's face off, then your's. Because you're Xerath support when you should not be.

For poking, most mages can do the trick, especially if they have some CC or utility:

Brand (actually is a thing), Karma (is a thing too) Ekko Fiddlesticks Kennen (again, a thing), Lux Nidalee Lissandra Orianna Syndra Veigar Velkoz (was a thing) Zyra (was a thing too) Elise (was a thing once) Xerath

For kill lane purpose, a lot of tanks and bruisers can do the trick as they can engage, withstand some punishment, and many of them have steroids to deal dmg with little items, or utility to make up for it:

Anivia Chogath Gragas Galio JarvanIV LeeSin Malphite Maokai Pantheon Poppy Rammus Shen (a new thing) Singed Sion Skarner Vi XinZhao Zac Gnar

Some assassins can do (riskier):

Yasuo Zed Rengar Leblanc Fizz Nocturne

Even Ashe can do.

Most important things are:

  1. Know what you are doing
  2. Do it with an actual intention to support and make it work
  3. Make sure your lane partner is willing to work with your weird pick, if he isn't you're honestly better off switching to something more traditional
