Help me decide what to do about ranked

Guys I need help... I just hit 30 this season and started playing ranked. After my provisionals I placed in Silver V and started trying to work up from there. However, I lost so much I eventually dropped to Bronze I, then Bronze II, and now Bronze III. Idk what to do. I'm now something like 15 W and 45 L, maybe even worse. I felt I didn't know enough champs, so I went back to normals to try and learn more. After coming back, I'm still losing a lot and can't seem to carry any games. I don't flame my teammates and I don't blame them for my mistakes, because I realize I can play a lot better. Should I just go back to normals again for the season and learn/refine champs and wait until next season? The only problem is that when I play normals, I almost always carry, so I feel that I don't get much better. Should I just keep getting rekt in ranked until I start improving and carrying? I've already resolved that I won't quit this game because I'm in the "elo hell" as people call it. My hope is to make it to Platinum at sometime. Please give some reasonable advice.

You're in Bronze because that's your level of skill. You will continue to lose games until you reach your "true" skill level. From there, it's up to you to improve. Study the basics of the game, and you'll get back to Silver.

The videos on this channel will get you to high Silver:

The "new" series he's working on isn't complete yet, but the old videos (slightly outdated, on an older version of Summoner's Rift) are more than adequare to teach you what you need to know.

Ok thanks for the feedback. So it seems that most agree to continue to play ranked and try to improve there?

The reality is that as someone that has not played the game a lot you will lose. You need to practice to get better. Don't worry too much about climbing, just set some goals (ie I'll get 8 cs/minute consistently, I'll look at minimap every 15 seconds, Etc) and try to reach them. I don't think it really matters if it's in normals or ranked. For now, pick the more fun one.

I know a lot of people talk shit about only following the pros or whatever, but they are pros for a reason. Watch some streams or youtube videos of them playing or explaining champions. It definitely helped me get better with champions. Also feel free to duo with me, I'm bronze and I want someone to duo with. I play with friends but the lowest is silver 2 and the hightest is diamond 4. I play with the diamond regularly so I have experience with playing against all ranks lower than him.

Start with something that is really easy to improve. Warding

Obviously ward placement is more then just putting them anywhere but simply warding randomly is still a huge step from bumbling around in the dark.

The most powerful item in the game costs 250G.

Ward placements and map awareness are key factors in winning. I remember last year I was placed in Silver but I fell to Bronze 3 instantly, so I decided to pick a role, stick with it, watch the map, make calls, and constantly ward. In two weeks I was able to get to Gold 5 (summer + all-nighters). Unfortunately, I fell back to Silver, but make sure you watch the map and ping.

You really need to work on your basics, and I would suggest staying out of ranked unless you don't mind dropping to Bronze 5 while you practice. If you are performing better in normals, I would suggest to keep playing because it will get more difficult with time.

Getting "rekt" in ranked won't automatically teach you how to improve because you don't even know your mistakes.

First thing you need to work on is dying less. Play the game like you want 0 deaths at the end. That means less risks; don't chase people into the unwarded jungle, don't push if you have no wards to look for the enemy jungler. And don't try to fight your lane opponent if they already killed you before.

Next you seriously need to work on your CSing. Practice last hitting minions in a custom game if you have to. You want to miss as little as possible, even under your turret. If you want to hit Platinum, you have to excel at CSing.

Its because you didnt deserve silver

The placements are fucked up, giving players higher ranks then they deserve.

Just play more and you will get better and eventually start climbing out of these lower rankings.

I believe in u :)

I'll echo what everyone else has said: practice more in norms. It's good advice.

Some more specific tips for you that I got from viewing your match history:

  • If you're playing an AP mid against and AD mid, rush Seeker's Armguard item 3191 to build into Zhonyas item 3157 . Learn about situational builds in general.

  • Don't build Thornmail on Yasuo at all. He's not a tank champion, so you won't be effectively using Thornmail.

  • You've practiced a lot of top and mid lane, and you should keep practicing them. However, since they are popular roles, you should learn jungle and support (which are both fairly unpopular roles) for the occasions in ranked when you will be forced to play those roles.

Keep playing ranked, have an open mind, stick around the boards alot because theres alot of nice ideas. The rate of getting better is higher while playing ranked.

If you're looking for help the boards is always here ;)
