Looking to grow as an ADC

Just trying to figure out some of my mistakes and improve my play would anyone be willing to give me hand? I main ADC and have for a while, I know my positioning is probably my weakest mechanic, and just trying to figure it all out.

Long Story Short I have been steadily improving for a few months now and I can tell I am near making it to Gold, I have a great basis of knowledge of the game and of various champions. I would really love to play with some people better than me so that I can see how they play and how to improve my own game! So just add me in game: Eliwood366.

Thanks Guys, Eliwood366

Timing is probably the most important aspect of being an ADC; knowing when to poke, kite, engage, and disengage are the primary differences between us and the pros.

This is especially true in the event you are using ADCs with less means of maneuverability (Ashe, Kog'Maw, Varus, Urgot). As you play, especially against better players, your instinct will naturally develop to account for each of these factors.

I'd recommend trying a few different ADCs and focusing on a specific strategy. Take Vayne for a run and focus on maintaining heavy pressure on a lane, perhaps use Tristana to attempt heavy engage and disengage, or try Ashe out to practice effective kiting.

You'll notice yourself improving over time, even if your first few (or even few hundred) games aren't ideal.

As an adc, your priorities go like this:

  1. Stay Alive

  2. Farm

In teamfights, they go like this:

  1. Stay Alive

  2. Deal Damage Meaning... hit the target that is safest for you to hit, don't risk your life to finish off kills or hit the back line. As long as your shooting something and not dying, you're doing your job. ADCs are pretty much the only class that can effectively kill tanks, and tanks are often the only targets you can hit safely.

Everyone talks about ADC mechanics, but almost half of those people don't know what they mean when the say this. ADC mechanics do in fact include teamfighting positioning, and CSing, but the point of your champion is do deal the most damage in the game (generally the adc with the most damage in the game wins the game). Therefore, focus on orbwalking and kiting. Learn to CS by following this guide, and go into custom games, and practice not missing cs.

good job, you have made it to at least platnium.\

EDIT: Attack Move key bindings

playing vayne, ezreal and lucian can help you improve your adc gameplay seeing as those champs have good mechanics

To improve as an ad carry, their is 3 basic steps 1- Farming is important but if you have the MATCHUP ADVANTAGE, pressure the other adc and deny him by freezing. (focus on farming and poke whenever possible 2- During a teamfight, if you have proper positioning you will mostly be focusing the tank while peeling away (with the help of your support). Here is what you can improve on, it is the timing you actually turn and CHASE. Chasing too early will kill you and may lose the teamfight while chasing too late may also prove to make your team lose the fight. In brief, peel-killl the tanks/diving champs- choose the right moment to chase and fight the other team carries 3- Remember, a good and a bad adc difference is their abilities to understand their limits and by understanding your limits you can take appropriate risks.

Silver 1 support here. I don't have the greatest knowledge of the game, but I know at least some things about it.

Also, if you really want to improve as ADC specifically, watch twitch.tv/lolgeranimo as he is a master tier AD main and gives great tips and insight into the role.

The most common advice for adcs in teamfighting is to stay in the far back line in safety and dps on tanks for the team. while this is solid advice and i religiously used this common tactic to climb to gold as an adc main. i was watching lcs and noticed a trend of a lot of adcs actually not playing super safe in fights but playing very aggro putting huge damage on carries that get out of position. I have been practicing this (playing more aggro in teamfights and not playing to kill tanks). one thing ive learned is this idea is only useful on mobile and burst champs so ezreal, lucian, graves, corki, and even caits e+q combo. who can put big damage on squishies then flash to dash back into position. i have been noticing considerably more success doing this and i normally will vet going yomous over a lifesteal item (downside) to help the burst on a high value target. I would only practice the aggro team fight if youre confident on your mechanics as an adc because you will end up being nearing the front lines for a few seconds(which is more than enough to die if your not watching for malph ult or dont know the cooldown on enemy fizz/lb gap closers ect.)

I figured i'd put my two cents in. higher risk = higher reward so if youre mechanically strong but still not winning you need trust your skill more and rely on yourself to win more teamights.
