You're not the tank. don't initiate. if your adc's fed, kill the assassins trying to burst down ur adc. otherwise play her like an assassin. get cdr so you don't get stuck flatfooted. get tenacity if you keep getting locked down.

new riven? NO ONE LIKES YOU wait for someone to engage->ult-> jump in with combinaiton of broken wings and valor -> stun -> nuke them with your R of and while it's ideal to do her combo thingy, its probably less doable if its that hectic ;l

kite with broken wigs-> just keep swinging and moving in a circular direction.... that'll make you harder to hit for sure

Do you live on the West Coast? If yes, learn how to animation cancel. If not, find a new champion.

don't underestimate the effectiveness of defensive items if the enemy teamcomp makes it hard for you to move around in teamfights, just getting 3 offensive items and rounding up with randuins+spirit visage will make you absurdly tanky and disruptive to the enemy team while still being a threat to instakill their squishies

couple potential roles in teamfights:

  • you can only really initiate if you've built a lot of tanky items or if you're capable of getting in and out without retaliation. pretty much the only way to do this is to flash in with your third Q, stun, and then quickly escape with your E while your team follows up. it's a very dangerous game to play. i typically only take that risk if i have a yasuo to take advantage of my knockup.

  • one of my favorite ways to teamfight with riven is to actually sit on my ADC and peel bruisers and tanks for them while they go to town. you have a lot of CC and burst, so anyone that wants to fight an ADC 1v1 will naturally fear you.

  • if you're capable of flanking, riven is one of the best champions for this. you have the mobility to not get caught out when flanking, and this forces the enemy team to juggle their ADC in the middle rather than letting them sit safely in back. if you see an opportunity, you should be able to 1 shot their ADC with a single quick combo.

my favorite assassination combo is to burn 2 of my Qs (saving the knockup one) and then E-R in to negate damage and activate ult, land the knockup and take the free auto with my passive, then W to stun, tiamat to animation cancel, and then wind slash to execute. it's difficult to pull off at first but once you get good you can execute that full combo in so little time that nobody is able to respond to it.

the biggest key i can offer to you as riven is that you will be fairly tanky as long as you avoid CC, especially if you build lots of lifesteal (hydra is a core item, bloodthirster is a common 4th). this allows you to win in prolonged fights, but you're susceptible to burst damage and any form of CC since it stops you from activating your shield and mobility. do your best to avoid those and itemize against them if possible. don't be afraid to build QSS early on if you're against a high CC composition, and don't be afraid to build hexdrinker early versus burst compositions.

You're Riven. By the time teamfights begin you should have snowballed in lane and be way ahead. If you're not, you will have a harder time. Just remember that even IF you're fed, you can't survive if you're locked down and focused. Play her like Yi or Kat. Go in late and play clean up crew. You do a lot of AoE damage and have a powerful execute, but no durability.

if you want to talk more about riven feel free to add me in game Codeman192. i'd be happy to go over lane matchups, itemization choices, what to do when ahead/behind, etc. shes in my top 3 favorite champions so i'll never turn down an opportunity to talk about her :D
