Calling all Tristana players!

I like to main as Tristana, but honestly I don't do good with her... or anyone else. I'm currently approaching level 15 and I seriously feel like I have so much more to learn about playing. Lets focus on the subject, however. Does anyone have a build that is absolutely amazing? What do you use for runes and masteries when playing Trish? Is it best to play poke and run or more aggressive? I'm looking for any and all advice on playing her so that I can step up my game and stop having my teammates get mad at me for feeding. Thanks guys!

I checked your match history. Don't ever, ever, rush attack speed on Tristana. It's a noob trap. Avoid this item 100% of the time: item 3085

If you are playing her as an ADC, you're going to start with Doran blade every time. Then DAMAGE. I'll try to give you a basic build order below: item 1055 > item 1037 OR item 1038 > item 1001 > item 3031 > item 3006 > item 3093 > item 3086 > item 3087 Doran blade > Pickaxe OR B.F. Sword > boots > Infinity Edge > Berserker's Greaves > Avarice Blade > Zeal > Statikk Shiv

(You CAN get the Statikk Shiv pieces in a different order if you want.)

You build these next, depending on what you need first: item 3035 - Last Whisper, if the enemy has lots of armor (check their items) item 3102 - Banshee's Veil, if the enemy has lots of magic damage or stuns that you need to avoid item 3140 > item 3139 - Quicksilver Sash/Mercurial Scimitar, If the enemy has suppression champions (Warwick, Skarner, Malzahar), Zed, or hard CC that you need to cleanse out of. Like an Ashe ultimate.

How to not feed? Do NOT use your W to jump into a fight. Use it as your escape. The only time you want to W is if the enemy is so low that you know you will kill them and get a reset to jump back out. Use your E for harassing your opponent, and back away after you cast it. Farm, farm, farm. Tristana is only strong at level 1-2, and at 6. Then she is weak unless you got fed by level 6, so focus on farming up your gold.

Your general ADC mentality should be to stay alive while doing as much damage as you can to the closest enemy near you. Do not chase, do not go into fights first, and try to shoot people from your maximum range.

I think one of the most important things to keep in mind when playing Tristana is how she scales with time: You are strong until maybe lvl 3, and after that you are very weak until you got two big items. Keep that in mind while playing. Don't try to go ham mid-game.. Your time to shine is later :-)

If you feed a lot with her try to get a better use of her jump. Never ever use it to engage a fight. Use it to get into a better position mid-fight or to escape any ganks/picks/hooks that might befallen you.

If you play like this you will eventually learn how to burst people the right way. Tristana is one of the savest adc's in my opinion. Problem is that too many people want to go all-in for kills and resets with her too early ;-)

Static Shiv okay on Tristana as your second Item, but take in mind that pretty much ALL of AD tristanas damage is coming from her Auto Attacks. This means that she benefits more from a Phantom Dancer than she does a Shiv. Now, if your team needs more reliable wave clear, then go for it, but that PD is GOING to scale a bit better for you than Shiv is. You can always abuse her Exlosive Shot passive for wave clearing

I'd honestly stay away from all guides, ever. Play a lot, try a different core item until you find one you like, I.E., Bork, BT, Shiv, anything, and then, once you have that, go on and find one or two items that back that up, then last whisper, I don't think you should get that item before your 3rd item, find something else that rounds out on the stat that you'll lack at that point, and then your defensive item to round out the build at large.

Try playing different styles, remember what supports you enjoy laning with, and which ones you don't. Play a ton of TeamBuilder, and play what and how you like.

I used to ~~abuse Tristana for freelo when she was really OP ~~main Tristana, and this is what you need to know about her:

  1. Her early game is weak but if you play safe you should be fine.
  2. Her mid game is even weaker but if you just farm (CS) you should be fine.
  3. Her late game is hella weaker really strong, AKA late game hypercarry.
  4. Her jump (W) resets upon kills/assists. If you're sure you can kill someone, go for it and jump away.
  5. She has high burst when she hits 6.
  6. Never rocket jump into enemy team, ever. Unless you have 1000 AP then it doesn't matter.
  7. You can use your ultimate as an escape.
  8. Her E pushes lane hard. So you should ward post 3 minutes to protect yourself from incoming ganks.
  9. You will lose trades against Draven or Caitlyn early game. Well if you win then they're bad.
  10. My first page is a general rune page for Attack Damage champions. But wait until you're level 20 first, to buy tier III runes.
  11. My first mastery page is a general mastery page for ADCs. You can use it.
  12. You can use your ultimate to protect yourself. (SELF PEEL)
  13. Build: Infinity Edge -> Statikk Shiv (POWER SPIKE) -> Berserker's Greaves -> Bloodthirster/Last Whisper -> Last Whisper/Bloodthirster -> Defensive item
  14. When to build Last Whisper first: When enemy team stacks armor
  15. When to build Bloodthirster first: When enemy team doesn't stack armor/you need shield to protect yourself
  16. What defensive item to build: a) Enemy team has a fk tons of magic damage: Banshee's Veil b) Late game: Guardian's Angel c) Enemy team has a fk tons of Crowd control: Quicksilver Slash/Banshee's veil d) Enemy team has full AD: Randuin's Omen (NOT RECOMMENDED) e) You're unkillable/really fkn fed: Frozen Mallet (JK)
  17. Tristana is bad farming under tower. Push your lane once laning phase begins. But ward post 3 minutes. AMA

I usually build with BT first and then go shiv and hurricane, but after that I just get lost and buy stuff that I end up selling for other items and never reaching full build.
