Right now, I believe there's no champion tier list on the face of the earth or the internet that has been consistently on-point with the meta. So, instead of Googling "champion tier list" we have to sadly dig deeper. The way to do this is to use two main tools. The first is probuilds.net, so you can look up all sorts of statistics and facts about recent professional game-play in SoloQ. Track down what champs have the highest pick rates (and usually correspondingly the highest win rates) and what builds pro players use. Then, make sure to put this into a bit broader of a context if you want to by watching tournament or challenger-player streams. Besides from these whacky Europeans and their Aatrox top-laners, LCS picks are usually top-tier meta picks.
Example: toplane champions: Lissandra and Hecarim > Gnar, Maokai, Sion > Riven, Kennen, Aatrox?!?!?! > cheese toplaners like Rengar, Pantheon > anything else - oh, and Cho'Gath is moving its way up, currently being played as often as, say, Sion
Any professional toplaner right now can play Lissandra, has recently been learning hecarim, knows how to play Gnar and Maokai and maybe Sion, and if you're a crazy European pro then also Kennen and Aatrox. No tier list I know of will tell you this, so you're forced to look up the stats and find out for yourself for any given role you want to play!
