Warding tips

I really enjoy playing support but the biggest problem I have is warding. Ill place wards where I think a Gank might come from and at certain jungle camps but It always seems like I put them in the spots at a wrong time or they end up getting immediately destroyed. Is there any tips or tricks to more effective warding?

my usual supports are Thresh Braum Karma

Another thing! If you're playing support, if you buy a sightstone, consider selling your ward trinket and pick up the sweeper trinket instead. Use that to clear out wards in the more contested areas before putting down wards of your own :)

Pink in your side bush (rather than river bush) keeps control of your side and makes it way easier to defend. Blue side tri, red side by tower - prevents getting dove at your tower and gives controlled vision for your jungler. Have had MANY ward baits on blue side with a pink in the tri bush when their support tries to clear it since it doesnt give vision of blue side lower jungle path and you can hop or snare through the trees.

Ward just outside dragon pit entrance is priority over the river bush since it gives way more warning for when a jungler is coming, if theyre trying to sneak dragon AND covers their jungle entrance by top side blue.

The 2 mentioned above should give you lots of security from ganks, leaving you 2 free green wards to place as needed. One in your lane bushes also highly recommended to prevent being baited and ganked from lane

Learning a bit about how to jungle is probably the best way to learn how to counter a jungler through vision. Junglers generally follow a basic rhythm that deviates depending on game situation and champ select, but you can develop a good sense of where the enemy jungler is with just a glance at the minimap, the clock and your own memory.

For instance, the game time is 7:15, you're playing blue (south) side, and the enemy midlane Anivia just leaned bot and went MIA - you can be pretty certain that both mid and the jungler are at blue. You'll want wards in the river and (if you're pushed back) the lane bush by 6:50 to make sure the jungler doesn't detour in your direction. This can be confirmed if you paid attention to the angle Anivia came into lane at the outset (she may have shot a q and an auto to help leash) or if the jungler ganked top with doublebuffs at 3:45 - both indicate blue will be up ~7:10.

You'll also get a good sense of when and where to place pinks, how to push up or pull back your ward line, which junglers require special warding considerations (Fiddle, Noc, Panth, Rammus, etc). Playing the role is the easiest way to beat it.

Personally i ward tri , and either the corner of the dragon pit or up by where the dragon pit looks into the purple side jungle. Also having a pink in either the blue side bush right on the outside of red or having it up the river past dragon is good for everyone if you are purple side. If you are blue side i'd prolly put the pink in the tri so you can control your lane vision more carefully.

Otherwise i don't have all 3 wards out unless we are done with the lane phase/we are getting pushed in/the map is extremely dark. If mid is not warding i will roam and ward for them, fuck them getting ganked and ruining the game lol.

one don't ward tri by the time you see them its probably to late anyways always better to put the wards deeper like the three way next to red on blue side also consider placing them on jung ramps slightly inside river these spots are almost never checked by sweepers and gives you plenty of time to react

Since you can only have 3 wards, I would put 1 in river, 1 in tribrush, 1 in dragon pit, and pink ward in brush by dragon pit

Thank you all. I usually was putting wards in the lane bush, the river and the tri bush by my turret. Then after destroying their turret id place on in the tri bush right after their turret. Id usually end up placing them by enemy red and blue (if they are up or close to respawning), and by dragon after laning and then by baron after that but I really couldnt figure out where else would need them. One match Id lay down wards and a few seconds later the other team would destroy them and team would start yelling about me not warding. Hopefully these tips you all gave me will help be a better support.

im not a great player and im from low elo, so i dnt know hw much this will help u.

its probably bcuz u ward right in front of their eyes, dnt ward right in front of them, u r just giving them an info that that area is warded and thereby they could comeup with some plans, and when u ward keep tab of the minion wave, if its pushing towrds u then ward the side bush on their side, this will make sure there wont be any lane ganks and help u set up a top laner tp gank, and since ur pushed in, its hard for the opponent jungler to come by sides.

if the lane is getiing pushed towards the opponents, then u can ward safely without the opponent noticing and ward the side bush towards ur side, cuz the opponent top laner might tp onto the bush where u would hav no vision(if u didnt ward it) and they are already behind u

and ofc ur pink ward must be either in the tribush or in the drag pit(place it before letting the opponents know that u bought it), place it such that if they ever try to destroy it u can defend it and since ur supp main, try to ward deep in enemies jg( near the opponents' blue or red buff), this is even better than warding all 3 near ur lane, and take sweeping lens, and sweep out the obvious places, and u should be the one putting pressure by removing wards.

i rarely play bot lanes so these are the only things i could come up with now,ask a better player for more info gl hf
