Malphite Counters

First I am not a great player (was silver last season and I am new to league; you can see my stats here http://na.op.gg/summoner/userName=jiujitsuPhD). Anyway, I have been playing malphite top quite a bit lately and have yet to be countered. I am not good by any means and maybe I am just playing against other bad players but assuming people with equal abilities, who is a good counter to him? I assume someone with range/cc but what do I know...thus I am asking. Who is a good counter and why? I am really looking to see who to play if I am top and someone chooses him or he is banned. I love that he is a tank and can help team fights. Maybe a maikai would be equal and serve me well?

Malphite is the ultimate counter to autoattacking champions that deal physical dmg. So if you wanted to counter malphite, you want to play a champion that deals magic dmg/true dmg Maokai and swain are some good champions that can deal with malphite well.

I used to use a lot of malphite 2 years ago. I hated seeing this guy Nasus . Yes you can bully him if you go AP, but you won't get kill potential on him at lvl 7 or above. It becomes more of a contest to see who helps in teamfights harder. His lifesteal is just so good.

I've played Vladimir against Malphite, he seems to be doing pretty well as he can save his W for malph ult while in lane and can constantly harass malph

Maokai cannot beat Malphite because Malphite is stronger in teamfights and has strong burst damage.

Nasus beats Malphite because Malphite cannot kill Nasus and prevent him from farming.

You cannot beat Malphite with any squishy, no-sustain AD, period, even Pantheon or ADCs, since he'll just max Q while getting flask+2 mana pots and force you out of lane. You also have to scale just as hard.

You need 3/4 of: hard scaling, strong sustain, magic damage and tankiness.

I would recommend Warwick, Nasus or Swain.

Sustained ranged damage is a typical counter to malphite. Bonus if AP... Easiest choices...

I'd have no qualms picking my Kennen, Lulu or even Teemo into malhpite.
