Don't play.

There is nothing I am able to do to avoid getting reported, and mods in Riot are going gun happy banning people. I'm never xenophobic or homophobic, and I NEVER INTENTIONALLY LEAVE. I honor pick order and fill when I am needed. I even try to appease those that try to squirm out of filling a role they are uncomfortable (BAD) with by offering to trade. I have nearly every champion to accommodate them.

I've been getting reported on a consistent basis for "Verbal abuses" such as -

Buy a sightstone
Please react to teammates that are pinging near you
Play defensively
Look at the minimap
Please follow up

Being a season 2 veteran doesn't help me do anything because of the constant influx of new level 30's, and even while everyone is trying to adjust to the preseason patch, it seems like some people leave all common sense out of playing this competitive game. If I AM sarcastic, if I DO have a "pearls before swine" attitude toward anyone, then I understand what you mean, but seriously it is still a game that people play over the internet, from their homes. If all I am to Riot is another lonely whale, then their company can go to ruin for all anyone cares. If some of these players don't mature then I'm off to do more mature activities myself, and I'm not about to have a tantrum when people ask me to clean up after myself and not go ham feeding the enemy.

If I have to teach everybody how to play the game - EVERY GAME, then it's not worth it. I'm sorry, the champions in your game are a lot of fun, but the anti-fun elements are coming at me from too many angles.

Kinda sucks but you pretty much have to basically say nothing and make no suggestions on people builds. It's dumb that people are so sensitive to criticism. But if someone doesn't know how to play their position there's not much you can do about it, you just have to worry about your own gameplay.

If i see supports not buying sightstone, ill just buy wards myself even as adc. Or at the most ill say something general like "we need more vision"

Yeah overall I think my frustrations have shifted from "the community" because there always have been and always will be, noobs, ragers, etc. and is now focused on Riot trying to delete anybody that isn't a matronly saint and just wants a rewarding experience from their game.

I lost my gold reward for basically the same reason...with the changes in jungle and mana regen and the new "leave buster system"...looking for alternatives to league of legends.

Play evolve when it comes out in February. 4v1 so if you think you're at least decent and are tired of having a noob team to drag you down, you can at least be the monster.

Honestly OP, I think me and you are in the same boat.

And the boats name is the U.S.S 'My LoL game knowledge greatly outweighs my mechanics and my temper'

I really do feel ya though. There are some just simple choices that I think are, if not standard, highly recommended routes of play and item progression.

Problem is...you just can't. You can't teach everyone.

There may not be an ELO hell...but...yeah.

Just had an amazing idea.

Instead of playing in lower brackets and working your way up. Why don't they have you start in harder brackets and work your way down?

why are you playing "ranked" at all with that mentality at all? just play normals... really, tired of hearing the argument, "it's just a game"... i play ranked to WIN, if i wanted to play just because, i would play normal.

In my experience, over two years of the tribunal, and Riot left me alone, I seldom got reported, and if it ever did reach the tribunal, I got pardoned for all I know.

In the month(s?) of the state of things as they are - ONE RIOT EMPLOYEE deciding your fate. I got a 7-game ranked, 21-game chat ban that escalated to a 14-day ban. They are paranoid that the community can't take any criticism, and will be gung-ho gun crazy about banning any old curmudgeon that plays their game and dares voice their thoughts. /end item 3070

Can you elaborate? Me muting them doesn't spare me from being reported if the game is going poorly and they are grasping for SOMEBODY to report, yet can't take a hint that maybe their teammate actually does offer a valid point.

Them muting me for my input? That usually comes as a precursor to getting a report. Maybe they'll start to focus more on objectives, but what happens next? Less communication, and I'm put in my team's blind spot. That either leaves me trailing off behind my team or flying into the fray headlong and getting swarmed, hoping my team can close in on my initiation. There might be an alternative, such as endless split-pushing, but by the time I've been put into the blind spot by a team, I usually realize it's time to start over and try again.

You cannot get reported for refusing to communicate because you muted somebody who is toxic or overly chatty. Why would you have the option to mute somebody if it would lead you to a report?

I have all-chat disabled and usually mute people after they make repeated toxic comments, or if they just type a lot (it clogs up the chat window and makes it harder to keep track of timing buffs and summoner spells). I have never been reported.

The simple fact is that the majority, the vast majority, like high 90's % of people, never face any penalties from Riot. So you need to own up to your behavior and realize that you probably aren't saying "Play defensively" in the innocent manner you are presenting. You're probably chewing out your teammate for feeding with a barrage of insults, telling people "you're done", threatening to quit, etc. Take a long look in the mirror and adjust your behavior and you'll do fine. Living in denial isn't going to help you.

I'm not going to deny that I have dropped an "I'm done arguing" in a game, but I never personally attack them. For their own good, I kindly inform them that sometimes they act like incompetent children. The problem that I have is that when we still had the tribunal, people might have defended me. Now it's just one Riot employee with a pile of reports. They'll scan for "key words" then write you off because it's more efficient that way, they aren't going to look at context, and telling someone to stop what they are doing isn't the worst thing in the world either. "Living in denial" = what they are doing, and if I can't confront people within a reasonable limit and enforce positive playing, then I can't wait until February when I can disappear into the jungle playing Evolve.

I remember the last time they mentioned stats for what sort of behavior they find actionable, you needed to be reported something on the order of 20 times higher than average to wind up having sanctions on your account. I really think you're doing yourself a disservice by ever talking in your games. It's getting you into trouble, and perhaps more importantly, isn't helping you win games. If you're ever getting into any sort of argument or pissing off your teammates, you're making yourself far more likely to lose. I think if you just muted everyone in every game and never typed a word, you're far more likely to hit gold this season than if you continue as you are, and you'll probably be much happier for it.

I should mention that I'm a bit of a rager in that I get very, very angry at teammates who do stupid things. But I almost NEVER call someone on any mistake they do in game, aside from very politely pointing out things people may have missed, and I won't bother even doing that if they don't seem receptive. It simply doesn't help to make a teammate angry.

I'm not refuting your stance that I'm becoming more and more in a position to suffer from being reported. Again, referring to my experiences over the past few years, there was a time when I was a confused noob trying to take on the huge burden of knowledge that I have with me today, and they do have my sympathy. If I can make an observation, 90% of the time it's not their mechanics. I only call them out for - diving 2v1 (or Xv1) and failing to participate in a good gank.

In what is currently the next post (by SummonerSquid) I replied to him saying the mute button is not an optimal solution either. Refusing to communicate is a reportable offense. Damned if you do(n't). I accept my place in the community, my problem is that Riot went from seemingly underwhelming results with the tribunal to mowing down large swathes of players that just have complaints from time to time.

'Refusing to communicate' is basically someone who locks in teleport/clarity Garen and follows around your jungler all game, or goes and dances in a lane. It's meant to indicate straight up trolling. It doesn't mean not offering feedback to people in a game.

You're trying to help people out by saying what they could have done better, but it's really just shooting yourself in the foot. The vast majority of the time, you're just going to provoke an argument, because when something went horribly wrong they don't want to be told that they just screwed up.
