I've always been confused, whether to get crit first or damage first, especially on yasuo and marksman. someone tell me please....

It depends largely on the Champion. For example, Vayne builds AS over crit, Yasuo builds early Crit over damage (popular build is going Statik Shiv > IE, although I actually prefer a PD/IE build)

However, generally speaking you need at least some damage. Landing a crit with no AD doesn't help - double damage of "fuck all" is still nothing. If you prefer your abilities (I.e., Ezreal) you might prefer raw damage via TF or Bloodthirster, but if you anticipate you'll need to AA (Jinx, Cait) then you'll probably want IE because it gives you both, damage and crit.

For a few sketchy numbers, Jinx at lvl 6 with only an IE has an average DPS of 124, where a same level Jinx with both a PD and a Pickaxe (roughly equal cost to the IE) only has 118.

However, the PD gives you other advantages such as the MS boost and moving through units, but you're still better off with the IE.

Most marksmans start with a damage item like IE then going for PD.

Depends. With Yas item 3087 is a first buy because the AS lowers his CDs and it has crit on it.

With ADCs, it depends on the adc. Most will build item 3031 due to high damage plus crit chance/better crit damage. Adcs like Corki Ezreal or Vayne have different first buys they want.

There is also the situational buys too, but thats a judgement call. Like Yas building item 3155 against a long range poker like Ziggs or Xerath

Essentially Crit and Attack Speed are multiplicative. You need the damage first (usually) or you don't have much to multiply.

Damage first. Yasuo is possibly an exception, but only because he gets double value from crit.

Unless a particular champion's kit scales really well with crit (i.e. you are Yasuo) getting AD is a more gold-efficient way to increase your DPS than getting crit until you hit ~140 AD. Most ADCs will hit that from the BF Sword and Pickaxe in IE's build path. Then when they buy the Cloak of Agility or finish Infinity Edge the crit is gold-efficient. That's part of what makes rushing IE so good on marksmen.

Tryndamere can also usually rush critical strike items because the passive from his Q gives him a lot of AD.
