Season 5 Jungle Mundo discussion
Ok, so finally got around to playing Mundo in the jungle since the new update and utterly wrecked face against an Olaf who was packing a skirmisher's saber while I was running a trailblazer. This had me running for the nearest guide to learn how I could build this even better only to learn there are pretty much no jungle Mundo guides for this season at all. So I figure a good discussion topic about it would do just as well if not better. I'll start, others feel free to correct me here as I am only Silver 5.
Pros: -Can build pure tank and still deal solid damage allowing you to easily clear your jungle quickly and still gank as needed -Great at counter ganking and forcing enemies out of lane -Can engage even at low health and win -Not blue dependent, can give to mid
Cons: -Lackluster ganks at all levels ---Skillshot slow ---Speed boost requires burning ult
Now this leads me to the why of jungle Mundo. Why pick him versus some other popular junglers? Yes his ganks may be lacking, but when you go to help your lanes you will find most mids are unable to even begin to hurt you before running on empty. Your mid is running on a free blue buff however and is now able to simply walk all over the lane without care. And because Mundo is this tanky he can break up a gank attempt just by walking in. What are they going to do when your ult allows you to just ignore them and keep throwing your weight around? If they ignore you, you get free damage. If they engage you, your mid is free to unleash hell. If they run, then you've done your job and your mid is free to continue wrecking mid with that blue buff.
Top and bottom lanes are virtually the same story with you ignoring hits and dishing them out, or forcing them away from farm. Yes I know it lacks the usual kill potential, but whether you force them out of lane or kill them you still put pressure on them or took it off your lane which let's your allies do their job of winning the lane.
There is far more that can be said here and I want to see some other people's thoughts and perhaps item choices.
