What to do against Yorick (as Sion top)

I recently played a game against a Yorick as Sion in the top lane. While we ended up winning the game due to protecting our fed ADC against their team, I got completely riggedy-rek't prior to that (finished 2/11/9). I usually have no problems forcing my opponent out of lane with the combination of Sion's sustained damage and general survivability, but I could do nothing to Yorick that would stick. He, meanwhile, could repeatedly combo me until I was forced to ulti away or died to his powerful burst damage.

Do any of you have some tips for me if I ever come across this match-up again? Should I have just let him be while I farmed for items, or was I right to abuse him with E as much as possible?

Yorick has always been the, "impossible to win against" champ in top lane. His sustained damage is rather high against a single target, and his E keeping him topped off in health. It makes him extremely hard to trade evenly.

I played this match up (as Yorick) in a nemsis draft. And it literally seemed that there wasn't anything Sion could do. All I would recommend would be rushing high tank stats immediately. You don't beat Yorick, you survive him.

Yorick outsustains every other top lane champ by a long shot, and outtrades most by simple base damage. To make it that much worse, he's ranged. He's a nightmare, but doesn't really do much else (ex team fights)

Don't try to win lane, you won't. Apply pressure elsewhere (you can have a LOT of map pressure as sion) and simple outscale him.

Whoa whoa. . . I main Yorick and play Sion quite often. It completely depends on the play style of your Yorick opponent, if they cast ghouls from afar kick his ghouls back at him, just counter poke him and farm. If he's an auto first when you go to last hit throw your shield up prior to walking in giving it a second to be ready to detonate, this way if he moves to you to hit you just pop it get the minions and kick his E ghoul back at him. Sion has all the tools to beat Yorick, shield for casted damage from afar, decent self health scaling to give more health over time and a mobility Ult to get him to stick if he tries to kite. Play the matchup more, it's far from impossible. If he tries to freeze under tower just kick all the minions into him and recall and buy, tele back to lane and continue your farming.

It's all about how they play it, and how you play it.

I play Yorick a lot. The one who countered me was Lee Sin. He killed me a lot. The rest, I can Keep pushed back, may not beat, but I can hold my lane just fine.

Yoricks only real weakness in lane is that he can be pretty mana hungry. Best thing to do is keep poking him and take out his ghouls as fast as you can to keep them from healing him. If you force him to spam is E to stay in lane it'll eat up his mana really quick.
