Just curious which champions are the best for first time jungling? i know there were a lot of changes this season to the jungle and it opened up the door to different champs but let's just say i'm incompetent and want to start from scratch, whom do i choose?

One of the biggest things about the new jungle is that it's harder. I suggest Warwick if you've never jungled before. He's fun and has really good sustain in the new jungle, as does Fiddlesticks. Now, if you're familiar with the concept of jungling and have done it before, then Pantheon and Jax are good to start. (: It's not that hard to get the hang of, good luck!

I'd recommend watching Nightblue3 http://www.twitch.tv/nightblue3

He's a high elo jungler (challenger the past two seasons, working his way up to challenger again now), and he does a good job of teaching the game, especially the basics of jungle. He usually plays carry-style junglers, but if you're just starting out I'd recommend you stick to junglers with better sustain; I learned how to jungle with Phoenix Udyr, so that's my personal recommendation, but Warwick is also a good choice. Once you start to get the basics of farming efficiently, when and where to gank, maintaining vision control, tracking the other jungler, etc. you can start to branch out to other champions you feel comfortable with.

Sustain is the way to go to learn...but also I recommend splitting your practice between both an AP and AD champ simply for comp sakes. Fiddlesticks and Yi fit the mold of easy sustain junglers. Once you get it down and you branch out...some decent champs that aren't that difficult but are impactful would be say...Vi and Jarvan for AD and Amumu and Diana for AP.

I recommend creating custom games with no one but you on the map to practice early clears to make sure you can start both red and blue buff side and get a decent clear reliably, regardless of who you play.

AD Warwick Nice sustain, good at ganking enemies low on health. AP Morgana A helpful Spellvamp passive, W is great for clearing camps. Q is a great gank initiator. E helps nullify opponent countermeasures. Tank Sion Q is a decent camp clear. W is only good for mitigating dmg the first few levels, but later is good for that and then bursting on camps. E helps stun minions to further prevent dmg. Amumu and Nunu are decent hybrid AP/tank junglers. Amumu has great camp clear as well is a nice Q for initiating. Nunu has less camp clear but better sustain. But a nice gank initiator with is E. Honestly, an AP champ like Morg is probably more difficult to start as, but any of the others are great starting points.

Probably the BEST jungler to learn the role is Warwick. Still really strong and very forgiving for beginning junglers.

If not I recommend JarvanIV if you want to learn how to gank (while still clearing decently). OR Malphite because his clears are really forgiving (and fast) if you take Attack Speed runes. Make sure to build an early Sunfire Cape, or else your clears slow to a crawl on Malphite though. Post 6 ganks on all these champs are extremely straight-forward.

Like I said, take Attack Speed runes if you have no idea what you are doing. This makes your jungle clear really fast so it doesn't matter if you make small mistakes in optimization (which are really important in the jungle). Also take item 3713 every game until you feel you can balance ganking and farming.

Recap:

  • Best champs to learn jungle are Warwick JarvanIV Malphite. Safe clears and linear post-level 6 ganks. Just walk up to the laners and ult them.
  • Stack as much AS in your runes and masteries as you possibly can. These makes your jungle clears much faster and makes mistakes less punishing as you can farm really easily.
  • Always buy item 3713
  • First, learn how to farm. Then learn how to gank. Farming is more important than ganking however, because if farming is a sure way to earn gold, ganking is a luxury.
  • Aim to be the same level (or higher) than your bot lane the entire game. If you aren't, you need to optimize your jungle clear better.

by far the fastest way to rank up is to hire a challenger rank player to train you. I highly recommend soroco120 as a mentor. He was able to teach me more in one week than i learned in 4 years XD. Check him out on twitch tv at twitch.tv/soroco120 lessons very reasonable priced
