Do you go Armor pen reds, armor yellows, magic res blues and Attack Quints? or do i got Attack reds and get rid of Armor pens. And for the 1st items do i get B.C(Black Cleave) then S.C(Sunfire Cape)? And whats the reason some people run T.F,is it for his W?

Run armor pens when fighting shen etc? Run AD when fighting someone like Fizz etc.... Run TF when the other team has no heavy armor champs like shen, naut etc....?

honestly, if you want, get magic pen for his W but also get some MS and AS because once you do that, his AA is perfect and all you have to worry about is going tank or fighter.

Hybrid Gnar. To much damage and no armour makes you basically a squishy mid laner (which would be fine if you didn thave mega) and to much tank makes you useless in mini gnar form. Hybrid (like wukong, Garen, and alot of top laners) makes you able to be a damage dealer as well as take heat when you go mega. If you are doing well in game then you can get damage items first, if having trouble then armour items, but have a mix of both.

I would recommend using Attack Damage marks instead of Armor Pen for early trading and last-hitting. I wouldn't worry too much about who your opponent is in most cases. AD is typically preferable early-game and Armor Pen is typically preferable later in the game.

If people are purchasing attack speed items on Gnar, it is typically to take advantage of his W-proc. You get a lot of attack speed in mini-form without any items, so you don't really need to itemize for it.

item 3078 can be valuable on Gnar since it provides attack speed for his W, mobility, and he can easily proc Spellblade with his Q. I don't like buying it on him since I find it leaves me pretty squishy (it's quick expensive and doesn't provide much durability), but it isn't a bad option.

item 3068 Good rush item against melee AD champions (i.e. Riven, Wukong, Rengar) for early durability and damage.

item 3071 Provides good bulk, armor reduction, CDR, and mobility. Very strong item on Gnar, especially when fighting tanks.

item 3022 Great item on Gnar. It allows you to easily chase/kite enemies in ranged for and to peel/stick-on enemies in melee form while making you more durable.

item 3156 Hexdrinker is a desirable item in certain matchups, so you would finish it into Maw of Malmortius at some point later in the game.

item 3143 item 3065 item 3102 item 3075 item 3083 Good general defensive items. Gnar is typically built as a tank, so pick and chose your defensive items according to the situation.

My final build used to look something like this, though I haven't place him since about 5.14. item 3047 item 3111 item 3071 item 3143 item 3022 item 3102 item 3075
