A few months ago during daily ARAM with friends, I got Caitlyn and we already had a full AD team... so just for the laughs I played her as full AP.
It stuck, and I haven't played her AD (in ARAM) since.

I think, hypothetically, this might help Cait scale better into late game. Her raw stats and abilities are good enough to carry her to max level 10, so as long as you manage to net 2-3 kills before then you should be fine through her mid game slump.

Now, make an AP lucian video, its the only way i play him. similar build to Cakelyn. Lichbane, Liandrys, Void Staff, Rabs, and CDR shoes and Archangels ( archangels and sheen first, then liandrys, finish Lichbane and proceed to the rabs and voidstaff). Sometimes I get Hextech gunblade or Frost Fang, its situational if you need the slows or healing from spellvamp/autos.
That long range light bomb of doom ( W ) is so much fun to snipe with, and I can even annihilate tanky melees (poppy) that get up in my business.
