Tips on Riven?

I've just bought Riven, first game I played as her I went 0/10/0 against Nasus top.

Yeah.

My personal worst, as I do decently with every champ I play as. Any good tips? Also a build?

Ty, me.

Buy a cheap keyboard, you will probably break it after a few games with Riven if you intend to play her properly.

JK!

Don't shove Nasus's wave. Try to get behind it and fight him 1v1. And roam, Nasus will eventually get to a point where you can't deal with him 1v1 anymore, so make sure you help your other lanes out when the opportunity presents itself, summoner 12 is your best friend because he can't interrupt channels, and most Nasus are greedy for stacks and won't follow you anyway.

Since Nasus tends to rush item 3110 you might be better off rushing penetration instead of raw AD. If you see him going straight for FH, you can rush item 3071 item 3035

One of the best things you can do in LoL when you are looking to learn new champions is to watch pro players and try to understand what they are doing and why they are doing. There are a lot of videos of a summoner named BoxBox (Twitch account = flosd, he streams often) that portray both good and bad riven play, and does offer some explanations on how to play riven if you look for them.

Just some general tips for you since you're starting out:

  • When you are looking to trade in lane, try not to just spam your Q. Look to integrate AA's between each Q in order to maximize damage output. There is such a thing as animation canceling in order to make it faster, but I do not recommend learning it just yet as you are new with her.

  • You are able to wall hop certain walls in the game with your third Q. Just try to be as close to the wall as you can, whether it is shielding into the wall to get closer to it or Q'ing into it, either can work. BoxBox provides a video of the many places you can wall hop such as turrets, inhibitors, and in the jungle.

  • A general build (this is personal preference) for me is starting long sword 3 pots -> brutalizer, and then lucidity boots or pickaxe for damage. Against mages hexdrinker is especially useful. CDR in my opinion is an important part of playing Riven, as more CDR = more spells. There are different builds however, such as the one Best Riven NA does consists of just straight up damage and no CDR usually.

I'll keep my brutalizer as long as I want. For the gold cost its efficiency is unmatched. Yeah nasus is one those top laners that's just lame. Abuse him while he farms. If he attacks you instead he'll lose farm. It's typically a win win lane for you as long as he is losing CS and you are out farming and not dying to him. Late game sorry though. He's nasty as hell.
