The blind pick role calling issue
The league of legends community has made an unofficial rule. In blind pick games the player that types a role in chat first gets to play in that role. It is not perfect, but generally most people get to play something they want to play. One of the problems with this "rule" is that the order that messages are shown in are different for each player. Most players know this, but not all. Alot of the players believe that this happens because other people have higher ping or slower computers than them. It's not quite that simple.
I'll try to explain:
Assuming each player has 30 ping, and Assuming the time to show a message is basically instant, let's say 1 ms for clarity.
**When you send a message**
The message is shown on your screen as soon as you hit enter. That is ~1 ms.
**When your teammate sends a message**
- The message is shown on your teammate's screen (1 ms)
- The message is sent to the server (30 ms)
- The message is sent from the server to you (30 ms)
- The message is shown on your screen (1ms) That is 30+30+1 = ~61 ms
When your teammate types 40 ms before you, and the message takes 60 ms to get to you, it will appear as if you were first. On their screen it will look as if they were first.
They way to know who really was first is to ask someone else in the team, both of the messages are affected by ping to them, so there will be no difference. Just make sure not to ask someone who is premade with them.
I didn't know where to put this post, so i put ot what i thought was most fitting, tips and tricks. Sorry if you don't think it belongs here.
Also, vote it up if you like it, vote down if you don't like it, but be sure to tell why below. Discussion is always good :D
Edit: The reason i posted this was simply to help people understand what is happening and not get mad at each other. I dont mind, but as a blind pick player i find alot of people hating each other over roles.
