Leona as a Solo Queue Bronze Support

I recently finished my ten ranked games and was placed in Bronze IV for this season (with 7 wins and 3 losses qq; yes, i know i suck balls) after having made it to Bronze II last season (with 3 wins and 7 losses qq). Here's my LolKing profile: http://lkstatic.zamimg.com/summoner/na/44479505#profile I have a few main issues; any opinions at all would be appreciated (and excuse the parenthesis spamming; it's a habit):

  1. If I'm ahead and some of my teammates are behind, how can I best carry my team as a support? Should I be more aggressive and try to set up kills when enemies are split pushing (if we have vision...) or passive and try to defend? Of course it depends on the individual champion and the game, but a general mentality to have when in losing situations with raging teammates would help.

  2. Thresh question: should I build tank items before support items? I tend to prioritize tankiness on Leona since she has all the engages, but I also tend to die early as Thresh if I q, recast q, and flay enemies towards my teammates.

  3. How big of a champion pool should I have? The only ranked wins I have this season are with Leona (9 wins with her out of 13 ranked games in total), and I can't seem to help as much while playing supports such as Nami and Thresh. Should I focus more on supporting, which is my best role, or picking up and focusing specifically on a champion in a different role? Last season I "mained" Yasuo with a 45% winrate, and I'd rather not repeat that particular episode of my League adventures.

If you've read all the way to the end, have a cookie! Thank you for reading, even if you don't respond. ^^ And thank your supports please; we are very happy when you give us credit in any way, shape or form.

Hi Truna I main supp most of the time and my go to champs for supp are Leona,Thresh and Blitz and for them I always build the main supp item then branch out a sightstone then for def go MR/Def just to be sure though.I'm personally an aggressive support early game though i do step in to stop enemy minion farming but mid-late game i should be tanky enough as leona I'll ult the enemy/team them E/Q a solo enemy for my team to get and work from there as blitz and thresh its the same way cept I'll hide and grab them what you do to carry your team all depends on how your team is playing helps if you separate the enemies...here is a picture from a bit ago of a leona match i had my item build is usually the same for all supp champs

  1. If your team is behind, you can best carry by catching players out and snowballing back a lead. Focus on playing safe and wasting time so your teammates can catch up on gold - during this time ward objectives heavily (e.g. red, blue, drag, baron)

  2. Depends, if you're behind build tank. If you're ahead you can afford to build support items.

  3. Thresh and blitzcrank are the best solo queue carries, however thresh is a lot more difficult to make plays with. Stick with easy champions like Leona, sona, blitz, nami, lulu. A champ pool consisting of ALL adcs and ALL supports are prefered. It's a given a support player SHOULD know how to play adc to get an adc's playstyle mindset.

Why not just choose easy mode and play Annie support? You'll get tons of kills and it won't matter at your league if your adc doesn't get fed since you'll still carry. Of course that doesn't mean to not get sightstone, that thing's still important.
