The Lane Swap, in Ranked 5's

Hi guys! I'm here to talk about the experience my friend and I had in a ranked game [Here is the game I'm talking about]

We were playing a couple of ranked games like every night, grinding out to silver (we are now Bronze 2) and RANDOMLY DECIDED to try an LCS strat. We figured out that me Janna and Kalista is not that goood against Tristana and Leona . In champ select, I chose Thresh but it didn't changed at the last second. We called a lane swap with our toplaner Gnar , who accepted the trade of lanes.

What we did?

  • Hard pushing top (Tier 1 Top down at 5:30) with the help of our jungler when he finished his camps Shyvana
  • Their botlane switched back top, we went bot for the hard push, and with Gnar we took Tier 1.

By 14 minutes of play, their whole set of first tier turrets were down. Also, their toplaner CS was awful, compared to our toplaner who also 1v2. We denyed him so much CS, in teamfights he was completly useless.
We had gold advantage the whole game from 2k to even 8k at times. Their midlaner was fed, but we knew to shut Leblanc down in the last fight for the Nexus.

So, should you try the lane swap when u get countered or you think you're gonna have a hard time bot? I'll say it again, I'm not a pro, I'm a poor Silver 5, but GIVE IT A TRY! You can get that early advantage over your opponent, you'll never look back. :D

Your missing the point of lane swapping. LCS uses it not to prevent counters, but to get early tower and then going back to bot. It always more pressure for enemy top laner making it more vulnerable to ganks. Once you get top turret, you would head back to bot since pushing top is no longer needed. If you did a lane swap and the enemy bottom switch to top during the laning phase. That puts you guys at a advantage because they lost cs and xp during the time they swap lanes. Use this advantage to win your lane and gg. I don't recommend lane swapping in solo que because it can be a complicated tactic and there's much more to it then what I said. It's better for a 5v5.

Problems with lane swaps is that very few champs can do a 2v1 correctly and below plat the amount of people that can correctly pull it off is low.

Lane swaps can work under the right circumstances, but it is harder to pull of in solo q. Also the problem of doing it in lower ELOs is that bronze and silver are a bigger grab bag of skill compared to higher ELOs.

I won my last ranked game because Blitzcrank KogMaw decided to laneswap. Despite Darius being vulnerable to laneswaps, these guys had no idea what they were doing, and actually somehow lost lane to Darius while our traditional botlane took tower in 5 minutes. When we asked what they were doing, they said in /all "We are copying LCS". Both of them ended the game 0/10.

You are not in the LCS, you are in SOLOQ. Don't copy them in ranked if you have no idea why they utilize the strategies they do and don't have a coordinated team willing to put up with it.
