should i protect adc or being like a jackass and do my own stuff?

so first hi every one.then i just want to really know what should i do in this game?i started this game since 3 months after this game released,so so many confusion i have in my 5 and several months experienced and that is should i protect adc or be a man carry the team by myself?cuz i had a experience that is i was a trundle with godmode build(against ad champ or even jax) and i could even 1v2 with jax and their adc but suddenly there was a poppy without boot 5 offense item and 1 warmog just destroyed my adc by popping her ult on her so i couldnt even put exhaust and ignite or anything and she just demolished my team and while i was dealing with jax and their adc and almost won that but we end up lossing that teamfight with no casualty from their team... this is so strange i want ur opinion(and plz dont judge me by my name.this name made about 4 years and 1 month ago so everything is changed,sry about any english problem,and anything if its wrong). also wanted to survey fromm the community about this topic but i dont know how? just plz comment
