Nervous to start ranked

Hoping for advice.

Currently I prefer to main top but I am comfortable in the Jungle and mid lane. I've played some normals, I have approx 100 wins and about that many maybe less losses.

Bit aphrehensive to start ranked, I guess I'm afraid I'll end up in bronze and not able to get out. I do end up laning against ranked players a lot in normals and will generally win a lane hard against a silver 1 or worse. Gold it can go either way. I do know that I have lots to learn as often I could go 11-1ish in lane and not transitition that into a win for our team. I know this is my fault and am unsure if I should attempt to solo split push or team fight. (I generally do best with Vlad and Nasus top, comfortable with a lot of champions but generally play the same few reliables when it comes to pvp)

I don't rage or be toxic, at least not in chat. I've been on the recieving end of a stomping a couple of times and it's not nice and I refuse to make someone on my team feel even worse if they're that person.

Any advice to get over this reluctance to play ranked? Is it a case I should just man up and play? I did read before that you should have 200 wins in normals before you play ranked but that seems excessive.

TDLR: Nervous to start ranked, any advice?

Don't start now! Wait til the next patch and the Juggernaut slaughter, so things are a bit more stable, instead of learning a new meta mid prelims.

If your on a fresh account the best you can get placed is s1. Most likely you will get placed high bronze low silver which is normal. Learn 2/3 champs in 4 rolls and you will be fine.

just play who cares

Don't start ranked until you feel confident. You should have AT LEAST 300 games in normals before doing ranked. That way you are comfortable with all 5 of the roles in the game. Try to focus on a small champion pool. Champs that can fill 2- 3 roles are great for this.

If you do that, you should do well in your promos and avoid Bronze hopefully.

Just play, its not as bad as you think. Players in ranked still make the same mistakes as they do in normals.

Just do it, it's a crapshoot anyways. I played awful for my placements and only won 3 games out of 10, being carried by my team for those 3 games, and I got placed in Bronze 1. Getting out of Bronze isn't too hard. I haven't because I still mostly play normals instead.

Personally, I didn't start ranked right away and even now I play it occasionally, but not as a go-to. Idk if it is a similar reluctance, but I just prefer playing normals in which people almost never rage and there is just a lot less pressure. I still try, not quite as hard, but I don't just fuck around.

If you are mostly worried about where you will be placed, then don't start yet. Wait until you feel a little more confident. You shouldn't feel like once you start playing ranked it's the only thing you can do. If you play one match and then don't feel like playing another for a while, just don't. If you play one match and decide ranked is the ebs tthing ever and you only want to play ranked, then that's fine too.

You shouldn't force yourself to play ranked if you don't feel like you are having any fun with it. I know, it seems like a lot of people get mad about it, but that is also jsut because they feel so strongly about it. People get really happy when they win too, so it's not all hate and rage.

If you are feeling mostly ready for it, I would encourage you to play one and hopefully you have fun. Even if you don't I would still encourage you to not give up on it. Again, don't feel obligated to play it, but also if you feel like you are missing out on something by not playing it then you shouldn't be afraid to.

If you are nervous, don't start. For me, i was silver IV last season, probably will be placed at that or a division(...maybe two????) above this year because im doing well in placements. I've gotten to the point where ranked will be the easiest way to improve due to having to carry 'noob teams' or facing ppl better or equal than me. So ranked is there to get you better, and im sure it will improve you faster if you put the work in. I now play ranked always unless

  1. im q'ing with two other people
  2. just wanna enjoy myself Otherwise if im alone i will always play ranked. It is more pressure, but its just a normals, but it 'means' more and attracts more idiots low elo. WE are all familiar with the Yi flaming the entire team for being bronze noobs even though he is feeding and you look him up and he is B4. So that is what you will experience, but that is why riot has the mute button and /mute all command.

in the end, its just a game

tell yourself yolofukswag

honestly ranked does a lot more for you in terms of improving as a player than norms do (atleast imo) because norms fkin give you brain damage if you're scared of ranked, just set your goal to playing enough games to no longer be scared of ranked as opposed to winning

Ain't no better remedy for fear/nerves then just taking the plunge.

Don't expect to win but try your best, don't blame your teammates for losing and just have fun.

Good luck man.

Do you play Normal Draft? It can make the ranked experience a little easier to get into. And please learn at least one support. Everyone gets put in bot lane sometimes because they are last pick. You wouldn't want to be dead weight on your team.
