Hello everyone, I'm in Gold V and I was thinking. Do you actually need to carry games in order to win them? I mean can I play good but not carry games and still win? Thanks!

This is what I would think, so people in higher divisions can correct me on this if I'm wrong. I don't know what division it happens in (I'm in silver) but I would think there comes a time where even if one person is better than the rest, they can't carry. Because everyone on the enemy team would be competent enough to deal with it and not let them carry. Now snowballing, that's another thing entirely. Snowballing does not equate to just simply carrying. Yes, at higher divisions you can still snowball and end up carrying as a result, but you aren't carrying because you're better than everyone in your division. You're carrying because you snowballed to a power level (not skill level) that becomes impossible to deal with.

Edit to connect the dots to your question: You can play good and still win without carrying. At some division I would hope It becomes much more about the team's collective skill than and a single player's. You'll just have to watch for snowballing rather than skill gaps.

What do you mean by carry? By slaughtering your lane oppenent? As a Platinum player I can say that I often times have the lowest KDA on my team but provide a lot of ward coverage and pressure on the map and letting my team force objectives.

There are also games where you are going to be carried. Do your best to do what you can in fights, ward up, and play smart :)

The problem is that the answer to your question is yes, you can win without carrying. You can also lose without carrying. Carrying games just means that you have less of a chance of losing because you aren't weighing your team down with a mediocre performance. The more you carry (by pushing objectives, securing kills, providing vision coverage, and avoiding deaths), the better chance you have of climbing divisions. You can "play good" and still win, but it also means that you can still lose, too. Carry hard if you want to win more consistently.

Good luck on your climb.
