In HotS , you can just tap a and your champ will move to that direction and attack , if you tap A on a target (without clicking , just having the mouse icon over the target) you will auto-attack , much like ability smartcast , in LoL you need to press a then click again to do this ,

Bind "Player Attack Move Click" which can be found under "Player Movement".
If I remember correctly, the A key is usually bound with "attack move click". You want " attack move", which does exactly what you mentioned, moves you towards and attacks whatever target is closest to your curser.
I keep mine bound to spacebar, feels more natural for me to tap with my thumb then my pinky.
