- INTRODUCTION
This isn't a QQ post. Just my story and some tips to try and help players out of bronze that actually want to listen. I know this isn't the FIRST GUIDE but it's been two years since most of these guides were created and to be fair? Most of them just say "Go watch the LCS and learn" That doesn't help people that don't understand wtf they're looking for in these matches. This is to try and help point out what needs to be done. This is also in spite of the more recent.... Player curve for lack of a better term.
2: BRONZE TODAY
I am still in bronze, if you want to point that out feel free to! It doesn't change anything. Bronze in this day and age is... well? In short a curse. Bronze wasn't like it was in the days of season 3 or 4 . It used to be quite easy to escape, Hell, I did it last season when I was placed in b3 due to the season 3 bronze 5 glitch that affected me and some odd 26,000 other players. However in Season 5 it's a whole different beast it would seem. It honestly FEELS impossible.
3: Who the F*ck are you? why do you matter? Get gud!
I've carried as a tank (shen top) And died due to the carries being unable to take advantage of the fact and lost. I've carried as a hypercarry and died due to there being no tank or every other lane feeding due to things. I've played as a support and gotten an adc fed in the laning phase and they just go off and do their own thing and die and we still lose. I've attempted to coach players that are having difficulties I've accepted coaching from players that have done better than me with champions I've done my research on counters etc etc etc. I've begun to feel that it doesn't change a thing no matter how hard I try and be that guy who "Does the right things" Hell I've even gotten OUT of bronze in the previous season down to Silver.. I wanna say two?
I could point out how it's that I have some complex where I'm better than I think I am. But it's not that. And I will be the FIRST to admit I do not follow this guide 100% of the way though, and I am also bettering myself to make sure that I can actually "follow my own f*cking advice" This is the result of a long reflection and an anger so grandeous I began to hear indian Sitar music at a soothing billion and five decibels.
But, between the toxicity, the inability shown by players to think that maybe they're doing something wrong. It honestly FEELS impossible. And after much trying, Doing EVERYTHING I can possibly muster. I've been broken. I could point out the flaws in the ranking system, where it's just win/loss as opposed to actual individual ability. But what good is that going to do half the community feels like the ranks are "fair" when in actuality they aren't. It's a flawed system that is determined by wins / losses not individual skill, but that won't happen, So we'll cross this off the list of solutions. It's not going to change, and though it's the truth, it's something we're stuck with. At least for the time being.
First things first, I've got about 6,600 matches in total over the course of time the open beta testing of the game. Save the 215 or so that are in ranked. (Started last season quit. due to personal issues) So I'm not some inexperienced player trying to pin the blame elsewhere. This is something that I've begun doing in recent in an attempt to get out of the "ELO/MMR hell"
4: A list of things you NEED to do if you want to end the cycle of the "Bronze lyfe"
4.1. Stop, whatever you're thinking, just stop. You're not a master/challenger/diamond tier player yet. Keep it simple stupid. Play it smart, not hard. Think before you leap. A kill for a death is NOT "worf". These matches where there's 50 kills on each team and the matches are lasting 87 minutes isn't what you want. Ksing isn't a thing, you get assist gold. Stop
4.2. In light of number one. Stop. If you feel yourself getting frustrated because you've ended up 0/2 in the first 8 minutes of your lane phase. Before you rush back out to die again, Take a moment, 15 seconds under the tower/fountain to recollect your thoughts and change your strategy up. think about who you're against and what you can do to counter them. (Minions between you and those ahri charms or nid spears)
4.3. If you see someone playing that character you've mained for 97 straight years and they're doing unwell don't call them out on it in the aspect of "OMGFXXINOOBDIEINAFIRE" don't tell them they suck. Don't tell them their build sucks. Offer them a "suggestion" Say hey "give this a shot". Gently nudge them into a better direction.
4.4 In light of number 3 If you have someone giving you recommendations and you're not doing well? Don't rage at them for giving you recommendations maybe give them a listen. See if you can build into it next item you have. Provided it's a decent recommendation.
4.5. Look at what who you're up against in the lane, counters go past just picking a "Counterpick" for a champion, there a summoner spells and items that have the same effect. Prime example: banshee's vale. That tibbers stun means a whole lot when it's completely negated.
4.6. Signal your MIA's This is one of the utmost important things you can do. Three pings Alt left left and then alt up. communication is KEY. Positive communication, that stupid "GJ" does mean something and it keeps morale high.
4.7. Duo's are useless unless you're playing in direct context with that person. I.E Adc/sup or Jungle& top/mid. The extra communication of curse/skype doesn't mean anything if you're not in a position to consistantly aid one another. Try and stick with your duo in some form if you're going to play as a duo team match up. I've noticed that when me and my fiance duo up, we do A TON better if we're in the same lane or within direct contact with one another as opposed to me mid/topping while she supports someone. You have synergy with your duo for a reason. Stick with them unless pick order absolutely forces you out of being able to do so.
4.8. Pay attention to your damage values from your skill combos, If you can do 240 damage with a combo at level 3? Don't use ignite when you combo and waste it if the target has 220 hp. In the inverse see how much you're being hit for, If the enemy is hitting you for 90 an auto You probably ought to go back the instant you fall below 300, or at the very least pull back enough to be able to avoid dying heinously while your support is flashing just to heal you.
4.9. Pay attention to your mechanics As much as I HATE the word it's the truth Last hitting, positioning, and resource and build management is a pinnacle factor in whether or not you will win or lose your lane. Positioning isn't something I can teach in depth but a few key things to remember.
4.9.1_Positioning _
When the laning phase is over? unless you're defending a tower from a wave you should NOT be off on your own unless you're the jungle getting a BUFF camp. And even then you should have your team hovering near by. This isn't High tier gameplay the splits are rare and the successful tri splits are even rarer. Stick together, turtle up unless you're against an AOE comp in which case hover near but at least 250 units apart. (About melee auto attack range slightly further though)
4.9.2 _Minion control _
Another thing that falls under positioning that I forgot to add last night, Minion control, believe it or not, when the creeps are UNDER your tower? that's actually a good thing. That means you have something called "Lane control" It's hard for the enemy champions to slip under your tower without you being able to harrass them without much consequence unless you're within diving health parameters. The closer the minions are to your tower? The easier it is for your jungle to gank without them escaping, and the easier it is for you to last hit and harrass without being hit back.
4.9.3 _Last hitting _
No one expects you to last hit EVERY SINGLE FRIGGIN MINION When you're last hitting in your laning phase. But here's an average to good last hitting range you want to try and hit at certain timeframes in the game. This is also provided that last hitting is allowed after the laning phase.
75-100CS 10:00 125-150 20:00 200-250 30:00 after 30 minutes 250+
If you're having a hard time last hitting minions under the towers AD champions: Caster minions can tank one tower hit before the second hit kills them, on average 85 ad is enough to kill them if you have a damage mastery page, if not 95 ad should do the trick. Melee minions are able to take two hits before the third hit kills them. They're left with enough health that it doesn't matter if you're ad or an ap champion you can last hit them. AP: Melee minions See above Caster minions: this is where it gets a bit tricky if you don't have the attack speed to land two auto attacks shoot a skill 1/2 or 1/3 for the casters under tower isn't "GREAT" but it's decent enough until you're able to use your skills to kill the minions without running into any mana issues.
4.9.4 Map awareness
Always keep an eye on the mini map in the event that someone forgets to call an MIA or if you feel as though something's awry. If you see three portraits missing from middle top and bottom, along with their jungle, and there's no wards on dragon/baron? There's a good chance that's where they are.
If middle is missing and you're at bottom 3/4ths of the way into enemy tower range? They miiiiight be coming for you, you may want to take a step back and get at least to the 1/4th range.
4.10 WARDS
THis last one has to stand out some how... Hmm.. OH I KNOW! 4.10 WARDS
Last but sure as hell not least!! WARDS! I'M TALKING TO YOU SUPPORTS!! Kidding.. Help your supports out, vision is singlehandedly the MOST important factor in winning or losing a lane and the game. Help your supports, that trinket is only 250 to upgrade. I'm not saying buy a sightstone for every champion but upgrade your trinkets for vision wards or longer lasting wards early on. At level 9 this should honestly be the FIRST Thing that you buy for your team. I can't stress this enough, I've lost count of how many times I've seen only three wards on the map and the support getting torn a new arse hole because "WE CAN'T SEE ANYTHING WHY DIDN'T YOU FUXXING WARDS GODSDAGNREKASOIHWAEGOIAWEGOHIAWIOHEG!!!!!"

If everyone were to do these things bronze may actually be somewhat of a bareable place to be because everyone would actively try and push their way to victory and work as a cohesive unit. Not a garbled mess of prepubescent rage hatred anger and... well just that. __________________________________________________________________________________________break
After guide notes:
Damn, I made this a TL:DR post any way.
If this doesn't get flamed into oblivion I might make a suggestions post on how to change solo/duo que rankings in the light of the new player base. Or at least something to put the idea out to.
MOST RECENT EDITS: Added map awareness/minion control. Index Next edit: ??? Depends on the comments.
