So I've played this game before. Enough to know how at least the meta game works, and basic character building. I'm just worried about starting a game. Why? I don't know. I guess I'd like some advice on getting my feet wet in League? How do I find that "perfect" roll and champion for me?

Just play it like crazy. You'll hate a lot of things, but once you find something you don't hate, you extend off of it.

Just play normals. Worst that can happen is people report you for feeding.

Perhaps the following definition of the meta could give you some ideas on where you'd want to go? I'd be happy to help you narrow down to champions you might like as well.

Top lane: usually bruiser-style play where you get up close and personal with the enemy team Jungle: focus more heavily on objectives and strategy than the tactics that your allies focus on Mid: typically either assassins with high single-target damage or mages that deal massive AoE damage to entire teams ADC: lots of farming early game to slowly spin up into an unstoppable death machine later on Support: help your ADC get fed by fending off the enemy ADC and support's poke and generally "carrying the carry." You'll also be concerned with overall strategy, though in a different aspect than the jungler will.

Within each role, there are champions that have more poke, hard engage (that is to say, dive straight into the enemy team and don't look back), mobility, etc. For me, I've always thought mages were the coolest classes in games and I like the ability to absolutely blast people with damage as a glass cannon. As a result, I ended up maining Veigar (pretty much the definition of a glass cannon burst mage) and Xerath (an artillery mage). I play RTS games, so I thought I'd try things like Heimer, Zyra, Ori, and Azir. The first two didn't do it for me, but I love the latter two.

There's over a hundred champions. What sorts of things do you like? Obviously we can't give you all the answers, but we can point you in the right direction. You'll want to play some bot games to get used to new champions. Personally, I played several hundred bot games and played little PVP until after I was level 30, though now I play PVP exclusively. How much you play bots or PVP is up to you.

Teambuilder baby!

Try out each role, try out many champions. Just find out what you like and don't take shit from anybody because no matter what role, what champion, what rank or skill level you are there are people out there who make you feel like you're bad. Ignore them, play your hardest and have fun.

Turn off chat. Enjoy playing the game way more until you get comfortable.

I've always liked having plenty of CC/heals/utility in previous games so I mained support first. I played a lot of mid lane Anivia in season 1/2. But Lulu unexpectedly became my favorite champion later (for a while). I branched out from that to include lots of champions, but generally I like ranged/kite-y/high utility champions.

The ip wall newer players have to deal with is really unfortunate. But yeah, just try all the free champions and you'll overtime figure out which ones you'd like and maybe even eventually you'll be able to predict what champions you might like before even playing them (sometimes a champion can be surprisingly fun or disappointing tho)

u know what happened when i took swimming classes no such thing as gettin yo feet wet, that instructor is gonna drag you down like cthulu then after a minute, the water doesnt feel very cold anymore

so fking fall in there yo! its expected that everyone who ever got good is well rounded which means you have done everything, modarelty adequate at everything and then you should be able to pick from all the lanes you'v went in so far and see what you liked best so play every roll, like more than once
