So, between support Items... which should be bought on which Champion?

I mean, some champion playstyles make it obvious which you should get, but others... less so.

Leona Braum They get item 3302. and for me at least, I get item 3303 on Sona. I was told recently that Frost Queen's Claim was trash compared to Talisman of Ascension, So I was wondering, what do you guys pick and on which supports?

For the tanks I get shield but the only support i play that gets the frost is Morgana just because her pool makes it proc every second they are standing in it, I normally go pool first for this reason, i can walk to enemy blue and get a few proc of it and start with more gold than the other support to start off which isn't a ton but it does add up pretty nicely, plus the slow is really nice for Morgs Q to land

Here's how I've been taught to think of it when trying to choose.

Relic Shield: Melee champs only can activate the charges (works on Thresh because he's half melee). This helps you get up in the enemies' faces during laning, take some poke, get a heal for yourself and your carry, and still earn some gold for your effort. Oh and that late game shield is great for your divers and getting your ADC out of the pickles they keep finding themselves in.

Frostqueen's Blade: Take this if you think you can poke enemy champs with your AP spells often (which is why it's good on Sona). This one is riskier because if you take it but can't get the pokes in, you're loosing money.

Talisman: Take this if you think you can't poke or if you're playing with a team that specifically needs the speed boost (taking it on Sona when you can't poke is actually hilarious because, you know, speed up again when one speed boost runs out). This is a "safer" option because you will gain gold just for being near minions that die (not necessarily on the front lines risking your face to that insane Cait range), but I think it is a little lower rate than if you have a poke heavy composition that lets you make use of Frostqueens instead.

In essence it comes down what you expect the game to look like. A good support can gauge what kind of lane they are going to have (minus the actual skill cap of the enemy duo or the knowledge of your ADC - it can sometimes be hard).

For instance, my personal style is to ALWAYS take Frostqueen on Nami, because I will gladly just poke/heal myself with W and make my ADC scream "Retreat you retard! Oh wait, free kill. Gotcha. Now please save some healz for me next time, kthx."

But Sona is a little harder for me. I find I have a hard time poking without taking massive autos the entire time. It may be because I'm too aggressive, it may be that my ADC isn't following the poke up when they can. It may be that I just underestimate her in-built heal. So if we are going against a crazy poke heavy comp, I will take Talisman, or if I know my ADC will help me poke when they can, I will take Frostqueens. It really just depends.

Hope this helps! I'm actually gonna post this as a guide.

frost queen claim is a bad upgrade because it offers very little extra for the gold spent. frostfang, the intermediate upgrade, is very good. many people who build the spelltheif line will build frostfang and then leave it unfinished to move onto their next item (like a zhonyas or mikaels).

item 3301 for supports that are not really good at poking (or they got countered and they won't be able to poke much) but run out of mana relatively fast. Like Blitzcrank whose abilities aren't really pokes but engages and are quite mana heavy. Or Alistar whose already has a heal on his kit and relic shield would be redundant.

item 3302 is for all melee supports that have no form of heal, shield or any other kind of sustain either for themselves of for the adc. Basically it lets you stay on lane longer.

item 3303 basically if you believe you can poke all lane phase. This is the item which is the biggest risk. If you don't poke you get no gold all game.

Now for the upgrade versions is really more of your play style. item 3069 is more versatil for stiff champions. give you another option to catch up or disengage. item 3092 will give you a less versatil dienagage but will provide a bit of ap. item 3097 will make you tankier as well as give you a single target solari shield to share.

In general, it's something like this... but you can use any item depending on your playstyle:

item 3302 for tanks or melee supports

Alistar Braum Blitzcrank Leona Taric Thresh

item 3303 for poke champs, or if you are going to be aggressively auto attacking

Annie Karma Lulu Morgana Nami Sona Soraka Zilean Zyra

item 3301 for champs who need regen or are playing more passively in lane (or need item 3069)

Blitzcrank Janna Nami Sona Soraka Thresh

I think it's really up to your runes. If you have flat armor runs for champs like leona, starting ruby stone isn't that bad.

Get item 3303 for champs that can poke alot.

item 3301 for champs that can't poke alot.

and item 3302 for ADC Sustain(Tanky supports usually get).

are u heavy on pokes? if u are get frost, are u just gonna sit there at safe distance? then get coin. the shield can be bought at lv 1 if ur tank support rely on skil shot. switch to coin out side of lane.
