How can I get out of bronze

Sxli·7/13/2015, 2:59:27 AM·3 votes·5,750 views

Im in bronze 5 and have no doubt that Im there due to my low skill level.

With that in mind, ive worked very very hard on improving. I picked a role and stuck to it, working on all the ins and outs of it. I picked adc because I enjoy the role and can carry decently from there. I regularly practice csing and positioning so I dont die but can still put out a lot of damage and help out in fights. I ward pretty often, so even if my support doesnt, we have good vision of the map.

Ive managed to climb up to my promos for bronze 4 for the 6 or 7th time and today, immediately first pick goes "feed or feed" and locks in blitz, we all try to joke around, not really thinking hes gonna feed, (I was soo beyond wrong). Poppy and blitz kept trying too 1v5 and raged a lot. But I tried to focus on things I could do to help. I got gangplank fed and he did pretty well and me and him were able to do a little, but it wasn`t enough.

I lost the game, and partially that was to being caught out twice. I know I could have positioned better. and cs`d and ect.

Im so very tired of being in bronze, I dont want to be stuck here. I don`t believe in elo hell, and I know there has to be something I can do to get out of here. Any advice or help would be appreciated. I need to win these next two promos.

I would say there are 3 big things:

  1. Your general mechanics and gameplay. You say you're already consistently working on these, so that's good. But as a specific question: In a 1v0 game, how often do you get 100cs at 10 minutes? Every time? Rarely? Being able to get a ton of farm is a really big deal. This goes hand-in-hand with your teamfight positioning, as making sure you're using that gold is a big deal.
  2. General map play. A big farm of getting gold is not letting minion wave die for free. You should be getting 200cs at 20 minutes, 300cs at 30. That's not realistic for every single game you play, and even the pros don't get that all to often. But if you're at 120cs in a 30 minute game, that's 100% on you. Don't lose out on the gold and experience minions give. You have to learn to balance that with joining your team for fights, but as an ADC this is important. Also, don't get caught out. Any time you die, it's your fault. In a team fight? Probably bad positioning. In lane? Didn't see the gank coming. In the middle of the map? Shouldn't have been out in front.
  3. Minor shot-calling. Players generally are able to understand a good idea when they see it. If you ace them, you're all full health, and you ping Baron, everyone'll go "Oh yeah! We can Baron!" and probably follow you. Don't give up opportunities like that.

i've been stuck in bronze for 2 years now, i posted something a while ago and people really helped me as im climbing out of bronze now here are some tips: 1st of all try to get all the cs you can ( sometimes you cant as you may face a good supp who want let you farm) , 2: if you get like 3 kills in your lane dont just keep pushing , go and help others who are losing their lanes that way you might gets them back to the game , 3: if you get people who go 1 vs 5 try to make your team follow them and go in a team fight that way they wont feed anymore as you may actually win that fight , 4 : tell your jg to ward the enemy side of the map that way they'll get caught and give you an easy kill , 5 : objectives, get objectives whenever you get a chance , dont waste your time on chasing kills and do not rage it will make things worse and dont give up , it took me 4 promos to get to b3 and now i lost my b2 promos so it happens , youll get trolls and bad players but eventually if u're good enough youll get out of bronze, gl.

One of the most important facts that a lot of ADC forget:

It's your job to kill towers, not people.

Summoenrs rift is won by taking Towers, Inhibitors and finally Nexus, nothing else. And ADC are best suited to do that.

Sure if there happens to be a fight and you get a kill great, but don't go looking for the fight. It's more important to stay alive and kill minions so you can get to the tower.

Also if you manage to kill your opponent and are low on health don't emediately recall, push until they respawn, then recall.

A few suggestions you might find useful. *record a game that you're in and watch yourself on the replay. It makes it much easier to see errors you've made. *winning your lane might not be enough. Get dragons, early, with your jungler and maybe mid. Those bonuses help your whole team snowball, and shut down the other team. Also, try to gank nearby lanes if you're winning your lane hard enough. *consider if it's worth getting your preferred role. You need to have some level of ability at all roles. Maybe someone else is a better adc and a worse support, so you'd improve your chances of winning by NOT playing your main. *watch aphromoo's "support is so easy" on youtube. The items are dated, the strategy isn't. 100% worthwhile.

A lot of it is mentality to be honest. You cant rely on teamates, you have to carry them. You kind of have to tell them what to do, how to do it, and in a nice way. Some games you will just lose, but if you focus and have fun while learining from ever loss you should climb out. It will take time, it took me 4 months to go form B5 to B1. I was 2 games away from getting to silver, then tilted really hard lol. Like went all the way back to B4 hard. That 20 game losing streak :(. I started blaming the team and not my self, giving up at the slightest set back, and the biggest thing was that I stopped having fun. If you literally do the opposite of this you will climb. I believe

I use this website as well, it gives a lot of good info on champions and lanes, and you can see where you should be http://lol.arenaonline.com/

with vayne, there is a lot you can do (talking about vayne since you say you practiced a lot with her).

you can max Q for easier laning and better poke and positioning. (if you max Q, it's often best to get IE first item since Q damage goes well with it.)

while laning, you want to look for when other laners walk too close or too far up into your minion wave and poke them down. unless they have a very strong advantage, your poke without taking minion aggro vs their poke with them taking minions aggro will often make you even or win the trade.

try to rush to level 2 before the other laners. if they get level 2 first, often they can abuse you hard in lane, but if you get it first, it makes for a much safer early game laning phase.

It is my experience that skill/ranking is determined by a number of factors:

  • Mechanics (How well you can control your champion)
  • Game knowledge (knowing when to go in, and when not to)
  • You can't blame people for not knowing what they don't know, your best chance is to provide that information.
  • Sense of long term strategy vs short term tactics.
  • Attitude
  • Blaming everyone around you, creating a negative experience forcing people to focus you, rather than the game.
  • How well you 'play with others'
  • Focus on yourself and not making mistakes.
  • Knowing what TILTING means.
  • Dunning-Kruger effect.
  • Luck of the draw.

I could elaborate on the Game knowledge part, and i should probably add awareness as well, such as map awareness, Dragon/baron timers, ult cd, opponents health/mana, summoner spells and so on.

No I wrote this a while back, it should give you a decent understanding of the game mechanics and principles. http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/tips-tricks/64VFYEZy

If you aren't playing duo queue depending on a random support is kinda eh farfetched.. i was b5 three times and climbed out. Mid lane and jg are two of the easiest roles to carry low elo. pick a high snowballer or someone with a good team fight. annie comes to mind she destroys... fiora top helped me climb out albeit i main top lane and she snowballs like crazy.. but you get the idea and forcing early objectives.. if it's not your skill pick a lane where you can shine.. you shine at that role. and force objectives with your lead. make it so the other team can't come back.

1.I applaud your humble approach.

2.You sit on an unupgraded yellow trinket FAR too often. Either upgrade to the better yellow and help with warding, switch to blue(I like upgraded blue, but blue is the only reasonable trinket to not upgrade, but only get on ADCs) or get red(upgraded red helps duel against stealth targets). If you look at my ranked history, I have at least a 90% trinket upgrade rate, and at least half of my unupgraded trinkets are games where it simply ended right around level 9-10, and thus, upgrading wasn't really an available option.

3.In your last ranked game, you bought Pickaxe+BFS instead of LW. This is a flatout mistake.

4.You overpriotize BT+IE over BT+LW or IE+LW in your 3 items + boots build. Its sometimes worth building IE+BT, but not as often as you seem to do so. Generally, the rule of thumbs about this are to build a BFS-item(BoRK counts on some ADCs as a BT alternative) into a Zeal-item-equivalent(Ghostblade counts) into a LW into either your other BFS item or a defense item into whichever you didn't buy fourth. Triforce carries work roughly the same way, but go Zeal->BFS->LW instead, counting Triforce as a zeal-item. Corki, Kalista and Ezreal are just weird, but they'll at least function reasonably utilizing these builds even if they're better built other ways.

5.Don't build sunfire cape on supports unless you've built Randuin's and Frozen Heart already and still need an HP/Armor combo-item. And even then, you should probably build Ohmwrecker instead.

6.Your last Thresh game, you're sitting on Relic Shield all game with a sightstone. Dude, buy Face of the Mountain. Its really good, really cheap, and helps your gold income.

7.Play fewer champions in ranked. You're more eclectic than I am, but you've got less than 400-500 games played, ever, compared to my ~5000. You simply don't have the experience to afford that level of variety. Trim the list and focus on a few champions that you enjoy playing, and play them as exclusively as you can in their roles.

try games with map awareness practice (typically easiest done on a support role or jungle). Buy a few wards and then start talking to yourself in the game in regards to the position of the people that are MIA, you can even do that for your team mates !! Although you ahve vision of them, but its still good practice.

It doesn't matter if you win or loose, cos the point is the gain map awareness. How long does it take to move from one lane to another from just simple walking? How long does it take from red/blue to your bot lane ? Just call them out and see how close you are.

Improving map awareness helps all roles you are in, it might be a bit harder when you have to look at the mini map and still focus on CS, but if you can ping one of your team mates to back out when you can see a gank coming (and they don't, hopefully they respond to your pings), that is an indirect carry through information flow. Which is how we support mains carry.

Coming from a bronzie support main, but I know this has helped me get out of low bronze. I did see my death count reduce as well. Its a skill that sticks with you once you learn it.
