(question) i know about opponents building MR, and base MR etc.
So if i am playing katarina and my opponent is just going off his base MR and not building any additional MR, i should just go for the straight AP such as large rod? or is haunting guise still a better first item considering their base MR?
I'm not sure, but I do think you should've titled this something like "I need help, guise"
Unless they are building massive MR early, then it is normally best to build high AP first, then build Magic Pen second. This tends to be true with any champ that has very high AP ratios. On a side note, I would highly recommend investing in Magic pen runes, as they give you some wiggle room in the early game.
Lindary's is not good on Kat, so it is a dead end item for her.
I know a gold 3 that has been a Kata main for like 4 seasons now. She builds Hourglass, then Abyssal, so the Mpen shows up there. Between that and sorc boots, you'll have enough Mpen for most people. Worst case, if the entire team stacks against you, you can always go void staff after the deathcap.
