Making $ thru LoL

I've recently looked at Doublelift's story and how he became a pro-gamer. Dlift quoted that he made thousands after he created a thread defining that he was homeless and had no money. I was wondering how I could make money through League of Legends. Any ideas? I know I can make money through twitch, youtube, etc. Lets take out those types of money makers. I was thinking of making guides like how he did and made money off of em, Im not quite sure how he did it though. Need some advice here.
