How do I go about queuing for ranked?

I typically only played ranked games because I get extremely frustrated by players in normal games. But, if I am on a 2 or more loss streak in soloQ, I find that I just get one horrible team after another or I will get 2 or 3 AFKs in a row. Is it better to do a few ranked, then a few normal to balance out the RNG?

Losing a ranked game isn't as horrible as people think it is. If you're getting to be a better player then you will climb elo, but you don't make it from B5 to challenger overnight. You may have to play hundreds of games to get to silver, but once you get there, you'll be a solid silver player who doesn't have to worry about dropping to bronze due to a few bad games.

Problem is people aren't willing to put in the time and energy to become a better player and want to shortcut the process, for example: getting to silver on an OP champ even though they are only a bronze player when it comes to teamwork, map awareness, warding, CSing, etc.

If I am on a bad streak in normals I will not play ranked. I just accept it isn't my day and go do something else. I will usually only play ranked if I have a few really good normals, and keep playing ranked until I get a super frustrating game that would put me on tilt. I have slightly over a 50% winrate in ranked right now, so I am pretty happy with that system even if it means I am climbing slower than I could be.

Here are a couple tips i recommend for playing ranked:

  1. If u lose 2-3 games in a row, take a break. (especially for ranked since u possibly might tilt)
  2. If you're winning alot of games in ranked, just keep playing (you might be on a lucky roll)
  3. If you feel like you're not playing well that day, take a break from ranked. If you can't depend on yourself to do well and carry the game, then its completely up to RNG to match you with teammates that can carry you which is unlikely unless ur really lucky.

I always play at least one normal game before ranked as both a warmup and to get a feel for how my psychology is doing at the moment. If I'm not feeling it, I just play some Teambuilder games on whatever champion/role I am working on improving and actively practice, not caring too much about win/loss. If I'm feeling good, I give ranked a go. If I feel myself slipping, I stop playing ranked and go back to Teambuilder.

It ends up meaning I play way less ranked than I would like, but I feel I play more consistently well this way.
